1) So International Fanworks Day is almost here and a Feedback Fest is on at AO3, as well as the
annual short fanworks challenge. I wrote another one for it this year, which crosses
Miss Fisher and Captain America.
2) I am not someone who enjoys the Joker, and right now I feel like the cult of his followers are disturbingly close to what's happening politically. So that part of Gotham is definitely not appealing to me.
But while I originally felt that the series had a good idea in focusing on Jim Gordon and what led Gotham to become what it is once Batman is on the scene, I don't feel it's done well at all with that premise. For one thing, there wasn't that far for the show to go since Gotham was already a mess at its start.
The beginning of the villains' stories has had its interesting moments, but lately I've found the part of the show that actually catches any attention from me is between Bruce and Alfred, and sometimes Selina. I quite liked that moment between her and Bruce where they almost fight but he won't fight her back after her mother leaves. And I particularly liked the end of this latest episode when he and Alfred talk about rules. I think the actor's really been growing into this role and I'm increasingly impressed by the character that is emerging.
Unfortunately I don't know that it's enough to keep me watching as I'm alternately bored or disgusted by Gotham. But I have to admit its turns have definitely been more surprising than what seems like this repetitive storyline going on with The Flash.
3) Some things I have, however, liked about The Flash:
I continue to think Julian's addition to the team is a bit of fresh air. I also quite liked the discussion between Cisco and H.R., about how Cisco was paying things forward, because they had all once relied on Wells for help and now H.R. depended on them.
4) Most of these issues I already knew about but
the fact that a virus can be a major reason for weight gain is something I doubt many know. I also find it unsurprising that heavy antibiotic use and antihistamines can be a double blow.
