Speaking of the fake news crew, Colbert's and Sam Bee's accounts were two of the ones I was thinking of when I was talking about them being largely promotional and impersonal. They tend to promote the show and do jokes but from my look at Sam's and my experience with Stephen's, they're not really personal. I was thinking of unsubscribing from Colbert's because I already watch the show.
I don't mind political content either, which is why I continue to follow Ruffalo's tumblr. It's a little preaching to the choir but he doesn't post so often that I find it repetitive.
I was also thinking that it's interesting sometimes to find out the people that particular celebrities are following. There's a lot of fandoms crossing over, I've noticed!

Yes and DAMN, I wish I knew how to be so concise. Thank you for distilling my ramble. (That is a totally sincere "thank you" btw, I know text doesn't convey meaning.)
I'm sure what I like in "celebrity" media platforms would be more diverse if I followed more people and had a greater sense of what's out there? I lurk on a lot of twitter accounts that do critiques of culture, racism and sexism, fandom etc but none of them are by "celebrities".
