Summer readers of this blog probably already know what I'm going to say next. Yes, that's right, we have a fifth nest being built on the balcony - apparently by Pongo and Missus.
On Sunday we spotted Horatio and Archie standing around near the bushes at the front of the apartment. That same day Missus apparently decided to come back to the nest and settle in. Then Pongo spent an hour bringing her twigs and vines and what not. As of yet, no eggs in the pot.
We had two visits from one of them on Saturday and thought maybe it was Pongo checking to see if the babies had returned. But I guess they were just deciding on whether to reuse the nest.
I got a link to this brief, uninformative discussion of
Pacey Con held outside Comic Con because Joshua Jackson supposedly read fan fiction. (Love the way Gawker can't be bothered to credit the message board where the photo came from). But apparently it was fanfic he wrote himself, which I'll bet could have used a beta.
You know, one thing I do like about the commercialization of Comic Con is that more and more actors are now doing cons, regardless of the type of shows they're on. And given plans to create "house brand" cons, I suspect it is going to become something that just gets written into contracts as promotional appearances. In fact, given the decreasing importance of upfronts, they may become the primary launching pad for new shows and seasons.
If actors take these appearances as opportunities to play around with their fans, I think this could be a particularly good way for them to create their own brands (which so many already do through Twitter or blogs). I think that bodes well for a future where individuals with followings can create their own projects, likely for the web. Right now, very few actors (or writer/directors) can get that sort of funding from studios. But it's a lot more possible for low-budget one-offs.
