The mourning dove babies are on their way.
This was the babies on the 19th.
On the morning of the 21st, Mike discovered there was only one baby in the nest. He didn't see the other.
However an hour or so later, the baby reappeared.
Missus and Pongo made only a few relatively brief feeding visits that day.
We kept watching both to see if they'd try to fly off again but it never happened. There was, however, a lot of flapping and preening.
For most of the time only one baby sat on the edge of the pot. We finally dubbed them Horatio and Archie as I was casting about for an adventurous name.
It was a rainy day which might explain their disinclination to venture out again.
By the end of the day both babies were sitting on the pot edge, but around 7 PM they seemed to call it a night and hopped back into the pot. Missus returned late but spent the night again.
This morning both the babies were gone. So this is the last photo we have of them. We're pleased that we had another successful launch though I imagine it will be the final one this year.
