[Despite the appearance of the newly created battledome, there's a small child training with kunai outside of the barracks this morning. He's drawn targets on sheets of paper and stuck them to the practice dummies. Each time he throws one, it strikes the center of a target with deadly precision

[bothered? Nope, not really. Sheena will approach silently from behind...and a small knife different from Itachi's will sink into the center of the target farthest from him.]

[If it had been directed at him, Itachi would have deflected it. As it was, he spun and aimed a warning through at the woman's feet. Careful, you could have been a threat, it says.]

[She's still a little too weak to be a big threat. But she is smirking as she crouches to pull his kunai from the ground]

Thank you. [He retrieves her knife as well, walking over to hand it to her handle first.]

How long've you been working on that?

Since I've been old enough to throw one of these.

How far away can you get before you lose accuracy?

Fourteen and one-third meters. [He answers without much hesitation.] I'm trying to improve on that distance.

That's still pretty good though.

Not good enough for real combat, but I'm still a genin.

Real combat might surprise you. It's not as easy to plan out as you think, even if you go in prepared.

Yes. I am aware. [His village has seen a long war, after all.]

I'd ask to practice with you, but I probably shouldn't. Mind if I watch?

No, I don't mind. [And he'll just... go back to what he was doing, then.]

[She sits, a few feet behind and to his left, to watch his practicing. She may make a comment or two on his form. Most of those will probably be compliments - he's already a decent ninja kid]

[He ignores most of what she says, focusing on the task at hand. In a way, it's good practice for blocking out background noise. He doesn't know her, and as such won't yet count her as a mentor.

Eventually he stops and looks at her again.] Are you also a ninja?
