[Guess who's waiting at the bottom of said slide.

This douchebag. If he wasn't tired as hell from refusing to sleep, he'd probably try to kick Karkat in the face as he slid down. Instead he just waits by the bottom, frowning. Not that he'd ever say he was worried about the other. But he was.]

let2 go on the 2ee2aw.

[His lisp drags on a little longer than it should, but fuck off, he's not all the way there at the moment. The seesaw, at least, was one of the few pieces of playground equipment that (hopefully) wouldn't require an adult to "help" them use.]

[ Guess who's landing on top of said douchebag once he's at the bottom?

This asshole.

He doesn't even bother to move at first. His limbs are almost more unreliable than his state of mind. For the moment, he just lies tiredly in the troll pile. He may be used to lack of sleep, but that combined with having blood drawn isn't doing him any favors. ]

okay.

[ Karkat finally rolls off, but doesn't get to his feet. ]

[Sollux just kind of lets it happen. He probably shouldn't have stood there to begin with. It's his fault he just got mowed down by the other troll. Yeah, he won't even really push Karkat off until the other rolls off him, and then like a mighty Slowpoke, he reacts and pushes Karkat off him further before trying to stand.]

guh.
...
can you 2tand.

i can stay on my feet when i'm up
mostly.
hold on.

[ Karkat tries to get up. He manages to get to his hands and knees before he bumps his face into the side of the slide. ]

okay hold on.
hey.
hey joseph.
hey. hey. hey.
hey joseph.
get me up.

[ His little follower hoists him up onto his unsteady feet before resuming his place on a nearby bench. Probably talking to the other guys following the trolls about how bizarre their jobs are. ]

what about you?

ii got it.

[He doesn't got it. For a while at least. BUT EVENTUALLY, back on his feet he goes.]

[ Karkat actually has the incentive to help, but considering he's leaning against the slide for balance, it'd probably end in failure if he tried to help Sollux up. Once he is on his feet, Karkat grabs him by the hand and starts leading him (read: leaning forward and using gravity to give himself momentum and pull Sollux along as a counter-weight so that he doesn't do a faceplant) towards the seesaw.

And then he realizes a problem. ]

how the fuck are we going to get on this thing?
like
fuck you, physics.
i will defy you.

[ Sollux allows himself to be tugged along, while he ponders the very good question Karkat has posed. Sollux hadn't thought about that, but with the way see-saws work… this isn't going to be easy. Better let Karkat get on first since he can't even get himself standing on his own. ]

we ju2t have two get on iit.
one at a tiime.
you go fiir2t.

[ As usual, Karkat scowls. Maybe because Sol insinuated that he's the more unstable of the two. Maybe because he's right.

Or maybe because seesaws are evil bastards bent on destroying childhoods.

Still, Karkat tumbles his way into the seat, gripping the handle for dear life as he settles himself into the seat. Then he stares blearily at the other side. ]

can you climb that?

Reply

p2iioniic April 8 2011, 02:25:53 UTC
[ It can't be that hard, right. It's just a seesaw. You have conquered things more deadly than a seesaw. ]

yeah.
yeah ii got thii2.

[ Sollux first attempts to just pull down the seat part of the playground device, but at the moment he isn't strong enough, and Karkat's fat ass is too much weight on the opposite side.

So clearly the next best idea is to start from the middle. The yellowblood begins to climb onto the center of the seesaw, and then slowly wriggle his way upward toward the other end. This is how true coolkids get it done.

Hope you're holding on tight, KK, because once he gets further toward his end, your end is going up. ]

[ Oh, he's holding on tight all right. He's got that handle in a death grip. His limbs might be numb and tired, but pure instinct kicks in saying "YOU MUST SURVIVE THIS DEADLY TRIAL." Ah, reliving precious grub memories.

Eventually he feels secure enough to allow his legs to dangle. Hopefully he'll catch himself on the way down and be able to propel himself back up and not, you know, break his legs. ]

okay i'm on.
now what?

[ Eventually, Sollux finds his seat and settles into it, watching the surrounding area more than anything. No watchful adults are nearby, but Sollux keeps his horrifically lisping voice low just in case. He'd rather not resort to having to speak Alternian if he could help it, that would only make things more suspicious. They don't even really need to go up and down too much. This wasn't for the sake of having fun (even though it might be slightly) but an attempt to discuss things without being listened in on. ]

ok.
2o now that no one'2 hoveriing over u2 liike a damn heliicopter lu2u2.
what'2 the plan?
do we try and e2cape now 2omehow?

[ It's a good thing they're sedated enough that being slow going up and down isn't too fishy. His legs feel too weak to really put much effort behind the push and it's taking most of his energy just to hold on.

Also luckily, his voice remains in its lowered volume. ]

obviously we need to lose the goddamn leeches.
hide out, lay low.
once the drugs wear off we need to head into a place crowded with humans who are busy or apathetic enough to not pay us any attention.
ideally we'd scout out an area beforehand so we'll have a meet up point in case we're separated, but i don't think we'll have that luxury.
i don't know about you
but i don't want to spend another fucking minute in that place.

[ He falters slightly as though he's falling off (and he kinda is), carefully looking over at Joseph and whoever else is following them. They don't seem all that interested in the kids' conversation. ]

i heard there's a boat.
we might be able to get away on that if we can stow away somehow.

[A boat. Not exactly what Sollux wants to hear, but if it means getting away, then he's down with this plan. The problem of the "place crowded with humans" puts him a little on edge though.]

are you 2ure we 2hould go where human2 are?
ii mean we'll 2tiick out.
a lot.
and 2hould ii contact any human2?
the one2 we can 2ort of tru2t that ii2.

that'd all be good, yeah.
we can get a hold of japan and seifer and who the fuck ever else.
and we need to get plan spread amongst us without gamzee or nepeta spilling shit.

[ he shrugs. ]

crowds will make it easier to lose them.
especially if it's dark
and it's an area full of adult humans who can block us from sight with their massive, hideous forms.
the other alternatives involve running blindly in hopes of losing them
but that relies too much on our physical capabilities and their lack of weapons,
and we'd be at the disadvantage of not knowing the terrain.
i don't even want to go back to the hospital even if we can break out.
never ever.
and if we're already out, we have our clothes. we won't stand out as runaways.
anyway, the boat is our best bet. from there, it's a matter of hiding.
unless you have any other ideas how to lose them with minimum risk of them tracking us down again.

[ That statement would probably bring a new level of stress to most people, but Karkat? No. Engaging LEADER MODE. He will be a leader like Aeneas and try to keep everyone alive rather than freaking Odysseus and just doing dangerous things JUST BECAUSE. ...shush I have a test on greek/roman lit coming up. ]

i'm a leader who's open to ideas ( ... )
