so, yesterday was reagan's cardiologist appointment.

we took her and they did 3 EKGs on her (a short one, a long one and one for special measurements of some sort) and an echocardiogram. the echo took about 30 minutes; with the doctor saying 'hmmm' and 'interesting' throughout most of it.

during the consult, she informed us that reagan does have a pretty loud heart murmur, but that it is nothing to be concerned about... BUT that she also has pulmonary stenosis (narrowing of the pulmonary valve... the one that lets blood flow from the heart to the lungs), again, nothing to be too concerned about. HOWEVER, she also has a hole in her heart (ASD) that is a little more than 10mm.... this is obviously something to be concerned about.  for now, the safest route is monitoring every three months to make sure it doesn't get any bigger... and once she turns 1, every 6 months and sometime between ages 3 and 4 she will have surgery to close the hole. this is assuming, of course, that the hole doesn't get any bigger or by some miracle of god, closes on its own (which the doctor said was highly unlikely because of the size).

it is so strange for me to see her perfect little face but to know that there is something wrong with the most important part of her.  i've been crying on and off since we found out, but i'm starting to accept that even though she has this condition (ASD is what it is called) that she IS going to live a normal, healthy life.

anywho... that's all i have right now.
