Summary: No one ever really knew who Jaejoong was. Not until he met them. Now trading sunlight for moonlight, he and his lover must face their true reality.
2.
In the morning Jaejoong woke up a little bit earlier than yesterday. ‘Probably is just my internal clock compensating for yesterday’s lateness.’ Jaejoong untangled himself from his blankets, wearing slippers he didn’t notice that were there yesterday night, he went to the kitchen.
Walking to the stove, where he put the pot with the kimchi jiggae, he opened the lid. Making a confused face, because, the previously beautifully arranged kimchi was now mixed in an unfashionable way that only a person with big movements would do.
There was no way that Jaejoong would do this ‘Maybe someone broke in?’ But the place was in perfect order, nothing was missing, the only strange thing was the overly stirred kimchi jiggae. Shrugging his shoulders, Jaejoong grabbed a chopstick and sat on the chair to eat his kimchi.
Jaejoong was hungry, since last night he didn’t eat dinner, just a little bites of the dokbokki that he made. Remembering to put the pots that barely fit inside his bag, he changed his uniform and walked out his house.
Adjusting his shirt that was slightly crumpled because of the careless tossing, he walked to school. When he was walking close to his shortcut, he saw Junsu coming out from his shortcut, with the same guy that he saw in the coffee shop.
Junsu and the mysterious guy were holding hands, they seemed like lovers, they probably were. Jaejoong didn’t want to stare, but Jaejoong couldn’t help it. Both of them together seemed so mysterious. The mysterious man emitted such a strange aura, something fearsome, yet something that made people attractive. Junsu noticed Jaejoong, seeing Junsu dragging the mysterious man to his direction.
“Hi Jaejoong hyung, how are you?” Junsu asked Jaejoong with his usual happy self, while the mysterious man just smiled a little.
“Fine, I guess…” Jaejoong must have been staring too much at the unknown man, because the next thing that Junsu did, was introduce the man to Jaejoong.
“Hyung, this is Park Yoochun, we’re together.” Junsu said, introducing Jaejoong to now, Park Yoochun.
“Nice to meet you, I-don’t-believe-in-vampires boy” Yoochun said, with a sly smile, his eyes looking like he was looking directly into Jaejoong’s mind and not Jaejoong’s face.
“Nice to meet you…Yoochun-sshi.” Jaejoong replied him shyly. He was uncomfortable because of Yoochun’s intense stare. Yoochun seemed to notice that, because now changed it gaze, looking at Junsu with loving eyes.
“Su-ah, I’ll pick you and Changminnie up after the movie okay? Be careful.” After saying that Yoochun kissed Junsu softly on the lips and turned around and got inside his car, a black sleek AudiR8.
Jaejoong just stared at Yoochun when he got inside his dream car and drive away. Junsu was rambling about how cute and loving Yoochun was, Jaejoong not exactly listening to what Junsu was talking about, until he heard- ‘When he proposed me he…’ Jaejoong stopped walking and looked at Junsu with wide surprised eyes.
“You’re together in that way?” Jaejoong asked, eyes still wide from the shock.
“Yes, what did you think we were?” Junsu said, not really caring if Jaejoong was accepting of his same gender relationship. Junsu used to think to say a thing for the ones that were not accepting ‘I don’t accept different gender relationship either.’ Of course that what Junsu said it wasn’t true, but saying that it gave a big impact for the ones who are listening.
“I thought that you were saying that you were together like us.” Jaejoong made a hand motion moving in between him and Junsu “Walking together. So you said that he proposed, how long have you been together with him?” Jaejoong asked, out of curiosity. Junsu was the same age as himself so being proposed at such a young age was strange.
“Ah…We’ve been together for quite a long time…” Junsu said, turning his head to the other side, like he was hiding something from Jaejoong. Jaejoong thought that it was weird but he didn’t say anything.
They talked while walking and once again Jaejoong did not notice the annoying noises of people talking a little bit too loudly. One thing that he did notice was the glances that were being thrown at him and Junsu.
Junsu was talking about some notebook with a dolphin cover that Yoochun gave to him, so Junsu didn’t really notice the glances, or he did, but he was really good at ignoring people. For Jaejoong it was really hard, he was used to be the ‘nobody’ but now, the entire school was looking at him.
‘It’s okay Jaejoong, don’t panic.’ He almost did when he heard that voice again, this time much clearer. It was a calm bass tone that calmed Jaejoong, more than he wanted. When Jaejoong noticed, they were at their classroom’s door and Junsu was being enthusiastically greeted by their classmates.
Jaejoong just squeezed himself and passed the crowd to his seat, looking at Junsu who was talking to a couple of guys about something that Jaejoong wasn’t able to listen. Jaejoong was envious of Junsu, because even if Junsu didn’t come to classes for such a long time, their classmates still wanted to be friends of Junsu.
‘Don’t worry Jaejoong, soon, they’ll be begging for you to be their friends.’ Again the comforting bass tone said, Jaejoong knew that there was no one around him, so he didn’t even bother to search for that voice. Jaejoong just decided that it was only his imagination.
‘Now you hurt me, love.’ Again that voice said, but before he could even think about what that voice was, Jaejoong heard Junsu say under his breath.
“You’re annoying hyung. I said that I would take over.” Junsu said it really lowly, but loud enough for Jaejoong to hear. Jaejoong was really surprised of Junsu’s words, he didn’t use a harsh tone, but a cute whining tone, but even so it scared Jaejoong.
‘Don’t worry he wasn’t talking to you, he was talking to me.’ Just after that voice said that, the teacher entered and started her lecture.
Jaejoong was still dazed, thinking about the mysterious comforting voice. He was so dazed that he didn’t bother to take notes, even though the notebook was open in front of him and the pencil stayed in his right hand.
The lectures passed in a blink of an eye, and soon it was lunch time. Just like yesterday, both Jaejoong and Junsu climbed to the rooftop to eat their lunch. Jaejoong was locking the rooftop door when heard Junsu say.
“Hyung! You didn’t forget to bring the food right?” Junsu said his eyes wide as if he forgot to do something important.
“Yes I did it, it’s inside my bag.” Jaejoong calmly replied to Junsu while walking to where Junsu was. When Jaejoong reached Junsu, Junsu was staring up, at the sky. It was usually a light blue, but today it was grayish.
“I hope that it doesn’t rain…” Jaejoong heard Junsu say. Jaejoong looked up at the sky and thought ‘I hope that it rains.’ Jaejoong didn’t know why he wanted it to rain, but he just had a feeling that if it rained, something would happen. Something good or bad.
The rest of his classes passed really quickly, even for Jaejoong. As soon as the final bell rang, Junsu pulled Jaejoong out of the classroom. Not even biding goodbyes to their classmates, Jaejoong could only follow Junsu. He didn’t want to be lost from Junsu and end up in a place that he didn’t know.
When they finally stopped, they were already at the shopping mall where they were supposed to meet. It was the first time Jaejoong had run so much, and the first time that he chased after someone.
“Hyung! You’re so slow, my dongsaeng is going to kill me!” Junsu said, making the arm motion when running that meant for Jaejoong to be faster. Jaejoong jogged to Junsu, his breath rapid. He was wiping away the few beads of sweat with the back of his hand.
“Junsu, you run too fast. How do you do that?” Jaejoong asked when he finally reached Junsu, who was already walking to inside the shopping mall.
“When you meet my hyung, I’ll teach you the technique.” Junsu said while laughing. The unique sound leaving his lips made Jaejoong feel relaxed and he started laughing too. This was the first time that Jaejoong laughed in front of Junsu.
Junsu noticed that, but he didn’t mention anything. But Junsu was happy that Jaejoong was starting to open up to him. They took the escalator and went to the place where they were supposed to meet, In front of a place selling tickets.
Jaejoong looked around the place and tried to find a middle school boy, since it was Junsu’s dongsaeng. He looked around more than twice but he only found some adults and other high school students. Junsu was buying their tickets and left Jaejoong near a pillar and wait for his dongsaeng. How Junsu’s dongsaeng would recognize Jaejoong, he didn’t know.
But even so, some minutes later Jaejoong felt a light tap on his shoulder, and when he turned around he saw a really tall man, probably older than him. As a reflex action Jaejoong asked the man politely:
“How can I help you, sir?” The man that tapped Jaejoong at first looked confused, but after laughing a little with his eyes mismatched he waved at Jaejoong awkwardly.
“Hi, I’m Shim Changmin, Junsu’s dongsaeng.” the man/boy introduced himself. It was Shim Changmin, Junsu’s dongsaeng, Jaejoong remembered Junsu telling his name. The only thing that Jaejoong wasn’t expecting was Changmin being so tall and so handsome that he would look good even wearing a garbage bag. The thing that caught Jaejoong’s attention the most was his aura. The same as Yoochun’s.
“Ah, nice to meet you, I’m Kim Jaejoong.” Jaejoong now introduced himself after waking from his trance.
“Yes, I know. My hyungs have been talking a lot about you.” Changmin said, a kind smile decorating his face. Wait. hyungs? Wasn’t Junsu the only one that Jaejoong knew that had a relation with Changmin? ‘Maybe he’s talking about Yoochun-sshi.’
They stayed in silence while they were waiting for Junsu. It was not an awkward type of silence, but a comforting one. It was like they knew each other for a really long time, even longer than their lifetime.
They saw Junsu coming to them, smiling and waving the tickets to them.
“What’s up? So quiet, am I the happiness fountain?” Junsu said jokingly, handing them the tickets.
“You wish, we were just reading each other minds.” Changmin said with a confident tone of voice, putting his hand on the hips and lifting his chin, making himself look like a superior person. Jaejoong thought that it fitted Changmin well, being superior to the mere human beings.
“You mean you were reading Jaejoong’s mind.” Junsu said accusingly. Changmin just held both of his hands up, making the worldwide notion of surrender. Junsu just smacked Changmin’s arm and they walked to the room where they would be watching the film.
In front of the room, a big number 14 was seen, indicating it was the 14th room. A big poster of the movie, the same scared woman, and the same man with shiny long canines that Jaejoong had seen on the pamphlet that Junsu showed to him was hanging on the wall.
They walked to the last row and sat more to the right. The room was big and there were lots of people filling the seats and others searching for available ones. Most of the people were giggling high schools girls with their friends. Jaejoong could soon tell ‘This is going to be a really fluffy movie that in the end makes people cry.’
The lights started to dim and the movie began. Some of the parts, the high school girls squeaked like there was no tomorrow, specially when the vampire guy kissed the fragile human girl. There was no way that it would ever happen, vampires did not exist, and even if it did, why choose an ugly human when they had perfectly beautiful female vampires to choose from.
When the film ended, Jaejoong proved that he was right. Most of the people were crying, Junsu was one of them.
“Why did he do that to her? She didn’t deserve that.” Junsu kept saying the same sentence for more then 15 minutes, and sobbing a little. Changmin just rolled his eyes, but Jaejoong was trying to understand Junsu’s feelings.
Why did Junsu feel so shaken? It was not a real story, just a film, filled with lies and illusions. They walked where the restaurants were, occupying a table. Jaejoong started to pull out the food that he had made the day before and put on the table.
Junsu was talking about how Jaejoong cooked well to Changmin. Changmin was more than eager to try his cooking, claiming that every single time that Junsu cooked, he died. Jaejoong calmly opened the lids and gave the chopsticks to Changmin and Junsu.
After their first bite, they sighed. Jaejoong was afraid that they didn’t like the food but their faces were happy and Jaejoong sighed in relief.
“Jaejoong hyung! You should become my personal chef.” Changmin said, stuffing more and more food inside his already full mouth. Now Jaejoong knew why he had to make share for 5 people. It was because ate much more than any normal human. Jaejoong was beginning to wonder if Changmin was a human or not.
They finished eating after a little more than 30 minutes, well Junsu and Jaejoong, because Changmin ate everything so fast that they wondered if it even passed 10 minutes when he finished.
Junsu was calling Yoochun to pick him and Changmin up. Jaejoong would walk home. They walked to the front of the shopping mall and it was raining heavily. Rain was pouring down mercilessly making more difficult to drive and even more difficult to walk. It happened like Jaejoong wanted, it rained.
Jaejoong was already getting out from the shopping when he felt Junsu pull him back, in the safety of the mall. Jaejoong looked at Junsu with a confused face and was about to open his mouth to ask why Junsu did that but Junsu was faster.
“You’ll catch a cold, stay at my house today.” Junsu offered smiling at Jaejoong and Changmin was nodding his head at the back, for the first time of the day thinking that Junsu was right. “I have clothes that will fit you, don’t worry there are lots of rooms available.” Junsu replied Jaejoong’s question before he could even open his mouth.
When they heard a loud honk that surprised them, turning their heads to the source of the loud sound, they saw Yoochun waving at them inside a black Mercedes. Changmin and Junsu quickly ran to the car and Jaejoong was being pulled by Junsu, so he entered the car too.
Inside the car was cool because of the air conditioner, Yoochun turned back to see Jaejoong and Changmin slightly wet at the backseat of the car, and smiled to both of them.
“Hello again Jaejoong.” Yoochun said smiling after saying that he turned to Junsu and gave a light kiss on his lips. He started driving towards Junsu’s house.
“Hey! You didn’t even say hi to me!” Changmin complained puffing his cheeks and poking Yoochun’s shoulder.
“You don’t deserve it, you made fun of my Susu.” Yoochun said still driving. How did Yoochun know that Changmin was teasing Junsu the whole time Jaejoong did not know, Jaejoong just concluded that it was an usual happening.
The trip to Junsu’s house was short. Jaejoong had expected this since Junsu mentioned that he lived near school once, but once that the car started to enter the shortcut that Jaejoong used everyday, he started paying more attention to the surroundings.
They drove to the end of the shortcut and Yoochun made a sharp turn making all of them sway a little. The sharp turn was made to enter inside the house. It was that old mansion. Widening his eyes, Jaejoong glued his face to the window, looking at the front garden of the mansion. He never noticed it before, but it was grand, elegant.
Changmin opened the door and went out, Jaejoong followed him. They were exactly in front of the door, so they didn’t need to worry about getting wet. Junsu and Yoochun were already inside the house, Changmin was holding the doors to Jaejoong enter, but Jaejoong was hesitant.
For Jaejoong, that mansion was unapproachable, always looking from afar and appreciating it. But now, the mansion’s doors were open to him. Jaejoong stepped inside of the house a little and was overwhelmed by the aura inside the house. It was not a thing that a human could produce.
Entering a little bit more, he saw a man that he didn’t know, the most handsome man Jaejoong have ever seen. Almond eyes looking sharply at him, tall, built and slightly tanned. It was the type of body that Jaejoong wanted. Jaejoong was going to introduce himself to the unknown man, but the man said it first.
“I’m Jung Yunho, nice to meet you, Kim Jaejoong.” The man said with a sly smirk on his face.
It was that voice, the comforting voice that talked to him, it really did exist. The owner of that previously mysterious voice was in front of Jaejoong; it was Jung Yunho, and Jaejoong was hypnotized by him.
