Halloween! I just love halloween. I can't believe it this is great. I get here to such cute clothes only not long after to find it's time to get cute costumes together too

...Well, you see...this place may appear quaint at first, but it...really isn't. To be blunt, an upcoming holiday is a cause for concern here, not celebration.
[There's the brunt of it, no one's actually explained Mayfield to Nana yet, so she's kind of created just how the city should be in her mind. Then along came a Ky to burst her bubble.]
I'm sorry to have to do this, but I'd rather see you prepared to deal with the trials here than to be caught unaware.
Anyway, first of all. You may have seen some people around town that act as if everything is perfectly normal. The people here have taken to calling them "drones." Most drones are relatively harmless, but...there's one to watch out for.
His name's Grady. He's the chief of police. If he comes around, someone isn't living up to the standards of this place. And he will brainwash the offender as punishment.
Pretty much. But there's one thing to be cautious of, too.
Sometimes the town holds "events." Sometimes, they aren't terribly bad. For example, earlier this month, there was a Tower of Babel effect, so we could only understand others fluent in the same languages. That was bothersome, but manageable.
But sometimes they're worse. In July, we were forced to go a week without food. And last month, there was an epidemic that could only be stopped with vaccines.
[Yeah he's lost her now. Last she knew that wasn't even close to possible so she's just going to spend a moment processing absolutely nothing. Just that surely it was impossible wasn't it? Brainwashing alone was hard to believe but this was a whole new level of impossibility.]
...
[There's a small hesitation before she finally manages one feeble question.]
...I'm sorry, but most of this place is an illusion.
But I'll tell you what isn't an illusion. There are other people here, people like me. People who know that something is amiss. People that want to do something about it or, at least, keep the others safe. These people are people that you can trust.
...I'm sorry for giving you a reason to worry. But...I felt it better that you know what you're up against rather than be blindsided by it. I don't want to see this place break anybody.
[After all she's one person and a normal one at that. What's she going to do? Throw a shoe at someone? That's not going to help the situation much. Now all she's got is a bunch of worrying that'll produce nothing but whining and a headache for her and people around her who have to put up with it. At least until she decides to go back to trying to live life normally anyway.]
[There's a pause as she thinks a little more and then comes to cone conclusion.]
You know, saying things like that make it feel more like a dream than it was before. Things like this just don't happen in reality after all.
Maybe I need to stop reading so much. I never knew media could affect your sleeping habits this much.
[She ends in a cross between a whimper and a whine, poor thing isn't sure what to believe anymore. If Nana listens to and decides to believe what Ky has to say then she's just not sure what to do anymore.]

Of course you can, I'm Nana.

Anyway, first I'd like to ask: Have you just arrived in Mayfield?

Ooh. So this place is called Mayfield? I've been calling it DreamCity so far.
Not very long I'll admit, why?

[So she's quite and listens, she even catches at least half of what he says.]
So some people are weird, some of them are bad, and the chief of police brainwashes people who don't do what they're supposed to do?
[Brainwashing really worked after all? That's kind of a scary idea, isn't it?]
