When I got up yesterday, I really didn't want to go to the Norton Simon Museum. I had to, though, as part of an art project. The first part was to go through the museum's online gallery and pick three works (two I liked and one I didn't) and explain my initial reactions to them, then go to the museum, see the works in person, and write my responses from there. Like I said, I really didn't want to go, mostly because it required be up before noon on a Saturday. I really wanted a day off after my first week back at work.
Anyway, I really liked the museum! Everything there came from Norton Simon's private collection, so it's relatively small. Small in terms of a museum; Simon collected over a hundred Indian sculptures, and that's only a portion of the south Asian gallery, just to give you an idea. I went with my mom, and we looked around for my works, and as I was looking around, I recognized most of what I saw because I had seen them all on the website prior, which made those hours of looking through the online galleries worth while.
