Rare Moment, Brief Post

Sep 25, 2007 16:14

I don't really post much in lj anymore, and I don't think I'll be posting regularly anytime soon. I just feel like posting right now because... I dunno. I have a few minutes to spare and I felt like it ( Read more... )

I was riding my bike the other day at PLU and I thought about you. I ride my bike there semi frequently, actually.

I haven't seen you in forever! Are you still living at home or where are you?

It's funny, your brother signed my sister's yearbook last year, and she didn't even know he was your brother until I told her.

So what are you up to these days?

I moved back from Portland. I live pretty close to PLU. I'm commuting to Evergreen to finish my degree. And working part time. Things like that. What are you up to? Hey, maybe we should get coffee sometime. Something? If you want my phone number is 253.617.9881. I told my brother about knowing Nicole's sister (you), he didn't seem that impressed. He just said- she's cool! I think it's ironic.

I'm not up to much, just a ton of school and homework. I have more classes and/or homework than any other time here. Somehow I'm making it through, I think. I'll have to see my midterm grade (once we reach midterms, of course) before I really know how I'm doing ( ... )

recapitulating seven years of latin ... have fun, i hated it. the only way i survived it decently was that i am interested in ancient mythology and history. both of them you'll need, so in case you dont know to much about ist, start looking at it. there are really funny and nice stories/legends/myths and epopees.
latently when it comes to translating originals it helps understanding the text a lot, since most of the writers wrote rich in metaphors and with many allusions to the myths and gods and history.

lol, my dad always tells me about how he hated latin when he was in school, which is one of the reasons I wanted to take it. I like it okay. It's difficult, but it's still just another language to me. It's interesting to me to see the words that are similar to English, ones that are similar to French, and ones that I don't recognize in the least.

One of the books we're using is a small book of shortened versions of legends/myths in Latin, and they're interesting. When we translate one for class, the prof. elaborates on the legend and the characters so we get more to the story than what little is presented in the book.

So how are you? Long time no chat! Are you planning on coming back here anytime soon?

i've actually been in tacoma this summer, but only for very short.
but i am planning on coming again, though it probably will be summer 2009 or possibly 2010, more likely 2010 since 5 year reunion and me, poor student then, cant afford two trips to the US within two years, especially not since my girlfriend desperately wants to go to Vegas then and visit her host family (she's spend a year in CA), too.

for me I'm doing more or less fine. i got to do civil service this year and its ok, though everybody's smoking there making me getting migraine every freaking day, an i have real problems lifting bigger weights (i'm in the motor pool(?) of a hospital, so there are always these heavy packets) due to my hernia some ten years ago or so. but tomorrow i'll see a doctor, see what she says.
