you were always my favorite (part 5)

“Don’t worry about it,” Jon said, seeming to know what he was thinking.

“But-“

“Spencer and I already ate while Ryan and you were talking. Ryan doesn’t eat as much in the morning as he usually does. You’re fine. Just let me know if you want anymore. Brendon looked at Spencer, who was across the table, for confirmation. Spencer simply nodded and gave him a small smile. Ryan, who was to his left, was leaning towards Spencer to talk in quiet voices. Jon leaned back in his chair and looked at Brendon.

“He told you, didn’t he?” he asked after a moment.

“Told me what?”

“Brendon, you know what I mean.”

“I...yes. Yes, he did.”

“I hope you know that we are all past that. Spencer never did drugs and Ryan was strong willed enough to make himself better and they both helped me. You won’t find any drugs in this house hold.”

“Thanks, Jon.”

“Brendon, do we need to stop by your house to pick up some more of your stuff?” Spencer asked in a louder voice than he’d been using in his conversation with Ryan to get Brendon’s attention.

“Um...” Brendon shifted uncomfortably in his seat, “either that or go shopping.”

“We’re going shopping,” Ryan said with finality.

“We are?” Brendon didn’t think they’d actually take him shopping.

“Yes. I’ve been dying to take you shopping since ever. We might get you contacts while we’re out as well,” Ryan turned a criticizing eye towards Brendon.

“Forever,” Jon echoed.

“But...I thought you guys didn’t have enough money to...” Brendon tried feebly.

“Give it up, Bren. He’d got his mind set,” Spencer smiled at Brendon. Brendon, though, didn’t recognize Spencer’s smile. It was almost...more relaxed than usual. Like he was more at peace then he was on a day to day basis.

“I need a shower first, though,” Ryan said, looking down at himself.

“Me too,” Jon said.

Brendon had learned better over time then to argue to Ryan Ross when he had his mind set so he just slunk down in his seat and watched Ryan and Jon walk out of the room together.

“So, um, how in love are they?” Brendon asked when her was certain Ryan and Jon were out of hearing range.

“They’re epic. But they’ve been beating around the bush since they were in high school. I don’t even know what they’re trying to convince themselves anymore. I’m waiting for them to finally say ‘to hell with restrictions’. But I’ve been waiting for a long time, so.”

Brendon hadn’t actually expected Spencer to respond so he beamed and Spencer seemed at a loss for a moment. Spencer was very particular to who he trusted and who he let into the elite circle of People Who Were Allowed To Mock Ryan Ross. Brendon was certainly working his way into that circle if he wasn’t there already. The smile on his face on brightened. Until, of course, he remembered why exactly he was here.

“So, ah, I was wondering if you’re sure if I can stay here for awhile...” Brendon shifted uncomfortably in his chair.

“Is everything Ryan, Jon, and I tell just rolling off you? What must I do to convince you? And I don’t even live here!”
“I know but...” The sound of a shower starting sounded throughout the house.
