Although, I suppose fanmixes are a kind of charity? Oh, how lovely the world would be if music was currency.

Alright, I don't have much to preface this one with but ASDFGHJKL; DAENERYS TARGARYEN, GUYS. DAENERYS TARGARYEN. If you have opinions that differ from DAENERYS TARGARYEN, please take them elsewhere.

Yes, exactly. I don't read these books to enjoy upstanding moral characters. I read these books because I love the shit out of morally grey people and this series has them in abundance. I have no time for fans who complain about characters being "evil". I mean, yes it's a legit POV I suppose to like characters who are good, and dislike characters who are bad, but then I think people are missing out on the richness of the series. I don't play in fictional universes in order to enjoy people I'd like to have lunch with or be BFFs with. I play in fictional universes to enjoy interesting characters and situations.

I don't doubt that if we didn't get her POV and just heard about her dragon-riding, city-burning shenanigans from afar, most of us would think of her the same way we do crazy Aerys.

I read a fascinating essay once on how Dany is actually the villain of the story. Which. Just gives me a lot of feelings.

I usually have issues with motherhood narratives in fiction because they can be intensely problematic, but the ones in ASOIAF are so, so good. In addition to Dany I find Catelyn and Cersei's motherhood narratives to be stunning (ESPECIALLY CATELYN OH GOD MY LADY STONEHEART FEELS THE APOTHEOSIS OF ALL OF CATELYN'S GRIEF AND MOTHERLY FURY HELP).

As a mythology dork you'd probably be interested in this series of essays!

Ha, never apologize for being long-winded. That is usually my modus operandi.

That sounds really interesting! I mean, depends on how it's done, but I could see myself reading that. Although, my face might look something like ---> :00000

asdfhjkll;; bookmarking that hell out of that, thank you!

AND OH GOD CATELYN DO NOT GET ME STARTED DO NOT. MENTIONS OF LADY STONEHEART MAKE ME COLLAPSE IN FITS OF TEARS AND SIMULTANEOUS CLAPPING.

♥!
