s1_else. So, last day! Don't worry though, if you've enjoyed this series then join us for more Handy/Rose adventures on
s1_else. First weekly post will be up tomorrow! Thanks to everyone who'a left comments! Handy and Rose are living in their own flat.
‘Doctor,’ Rose asked, perching on the end of their bed, ‘are you alright?’
Late morning sun flooded the small bedroom, illuminating the prone figure of the, usually hyperactive, part Time Lord.
‘I’m fine, Rose. Brilliant, in fact. Why?’ he asked, peering down the bed at her concerned expression.
‘’S just,’ she hesitated, stroking her fingers as she picked her words, ‘you’re still in bed,’ she finally said, in a rush, ‘you’re never still in bed. You get up before I’m even awake.’
The Doctor smiled lazily at her. ‘I’m just enjoying this feeling,’ he said, stroking a hand across the rumpled duvet. ‘Fresh linen on a brand new bed, can’t beat it.’
Rose smiled. ‘So,’ she said slowly, ‘you won’t be wanting to go to the International Market, then?’ It was one of her rare days off from Torchwood work, and they had planned to visit the International Market that had set up in Trafalgar Square this week. There would be stalls selling food and merchandise from all over the world and they’d been looking forward to it all week.
The Doctor swithered, stroking the duvet again. ‘Well,’ he drawled, ‘maybe we could go later?’ His hopeful brown eyes and mad crest of morning hair peeked over the top of the duvet which he was almost entirely hidden under. ‘Come back to bed, Rose,’ he said, patting her empty side. ‘Come and feel the crisp, fresh linen.’
Rose laughed. ‘Today you get lazy,’ she muttered, shaking her head at the irony. ‘After the number of times I’ve been dragged out of bed by a complete lunatic chattering on about getting out in the world, and now I’ve got somewhere to go, you want to stay in bed.’
The Doctor frowned down the bed at her, trying to figure out if she was annoyed. She was still smiling but he could see the disappointment in her eyes. Today, he decided, was clearly not a day for experiencing the “slower pace”.
Suddenly he threw back the covers and bounded to his feet. ‘What a good point you make, Miss Tyler,’ he said, bending almost double to drop a kiss on her forehead. ‘I’ll be dressed faster than you can say “Untempered Schism”.’
A short while later, they stood at the door, dressed and ready to go. The Doctor reached out and grabbed her hand as he opened the front door. ‘
Ready, Rose,’ he asked, smiling down at her.
Rose nodded solemnly.
‘Come on, then!’ he said, beaming. ‘The world’s a-waiting!’
