Can't get anything past her. ;.; Quick log or log log, maybe? yourealrightnow October 4 2009, 05:50:05 UTC
[He finds himself a little conflicted. Part of him wants to simply drop the conversation to lessen the threat and remove the worry, but the other wants to know what's wrong. As usual, that part wins out.]

Alright. Alright. Meet me at the Access Point in the City Without Walls.

Okay, see you soon.

[Donning sneakers, pajamas and an oversized hoodie, Lucy makes her way down to the Access Point. There was too much going on right now and she wants to get answers where she can. People getting eaten by snakes is more than just a little snake trouble to her.]

[Walking his way through the darkness of Sector 3, passing the rubble of his partially destroyed house, Roswell slipped into the elevator and jammed his button into the '2'. The machine rumbled to life around him, chugging slowly down until it opened into the open air of the Access Point. Clad only in white newbie rags (and a gold chain around his neck that disappeared into his shirt) and equipped with only what appeared to be a few scraps of paper and a pen, he made his way to Lucy with as big a smile as he could manage. It wasn't much.]

Hey. I haven't seen you face-to-face in a while.

[All the while he spoke, he kept his eyes flickering to the paper where he was scrawling a quick message. Without anything to write on, forever, it was sloppy to say the least.]

'Fred and I learned too much. The Sphere tried to take care of it.'

[A small smile creeps it's way onto her face. Her eyes a bit too red from crying but the scrap of paper diverts her attention. Lucy's squinting at the paper, attempting to discern the messy writing before her eyes widen noticeably. The tree was certainly in quite the mood lately wasn't it?]

You... the tree...

[Now she's frowning as the bandaged hand slips out of the pocket on the sweatshirt. The bandages are nowhere near as heavy as they were. Lucy presses her index finger into Roswell's chest for a few moments.]

Next time... do things a bit more discreetly ya big dummy. Keep quiet about what you know from now on.

Yeah. Me. The tree.

[He rose his finger to his lips, a not-so-subtle signal to keep tree talk down. Her smile made for a more convincing one from him, but that was soon popped by the sight of that bandaged hand. He did remember their conversation, however, and Roswell was quick to patch it back into something at least halfway believable. Scrawling another note, he handed the page to her. The other he took back and, pulling a lighter from his pocket, quickly set it aflame and tossed it aside. It'd burn itself out.]

'That's the thing. We didn't say anything. We were as covert as we could possibly be. It's like...I don't know, the tree is jumpy or something.'

And that's when he noticed her eyes. Concern overtook his expression, softening features that were once cautious and wary.]

Lucy. Were you crying? What's...what's wrong?

[Lucy doesn't have a pen on her so she can't respond in a similar fashion. Instead, she just nods before the topic is turned onto something more personal. She doesn't want Roswell to go after something unnecessary on her behalf but how can she explain it without giving out too much information?]

You... wouldn't happen to know a cure for a broken heart by any chance?

[Stuffs the rest of the paper into his small pockets, pen after it, when it's clear that that particular string of their conversation is done. But those words...Roswell's heart sank. With it came a kind of senseless anger at whoever or whatever put that look on her face.]

I don't think there are cures. But I might know a treatment.

[Moving to loop his arm around her shoulder, Roswell attempted to lead her away from the access point. There was nothing aggressive or more than friendly about his touch. Rather, it was a simple attempt at human comfort.]

Let's go talk. At the park, maybe? I bet it's kind of nice this late.

[She lets herself be lead away before looking up at Roswell curiously. She's never been to the park late at late and is actually curious about what it looks like at night.]

I can't say what it's like at night. Probably just a bunch of bugs chirpin' but it's quiet at least.

[The trip there is one done mostly in silence, but Roswell has a feeling forcing her to talk isn't going to make the girl feel any better. Maybe she just needed the physical company without all the words. He'd see.]

I haven't, either. I mostly wander the Marketplace when I can't sleep. It'll be a first for the both of us.

[Not long after and they're there, shoes squashing patches of grass as Roswell leads them towards the nearest bench. There his arm is reclaimed, the hatchling finding himself resisting the urge to shiver with the cold presence of the bench against his back. Damn it, he really needed to get new clothes again. Tomorrow couldn't come soon enough.]

You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, Lucy. We can just sit here and enjoy the quiet.

[The wind in the trees and, as she expected, the chirp of the insects were the only sounds that disrupted an otherwise perfect setting. Or, perhaps, added to it.]

I've done that a couple of times myself but the marketplace is kinda lonely feeling without all the other people there.

[Upon their arrival in the park, Lucy sat down on the bench and felt the shock of cold run up her spine. A part of her wanted to enjoy the quiet but there was always going to be something happening. These two seemed quite adept at worrying the other so it would be easier in the long run to assuage his worries.]

There's a boy here named Fullmetal and he and I were involved. He died recently and he doesn't remember anything. He... doesn't remember me and on top of another friend disappearing and all of the other craziness going on the Sphere, it got me feeling a little overwhelmed. I've been a little out of sorts lately you could say.
