Der waffle house and deism

Mar 19, 2005 06:19

I've been to the waffle house twice in my life. Once in 1999 and again a few hours ago. I was looking for a cheap substitute to IHOP, but I now know the best substitute is my own damn cooking. $5.99 + tax + tip at the waffle house just isn't worth it. However, $5.99 + tax + tip at IHOP for rooty toody fresh and fruity is worth it.

deism - The belief, based solely on reason, in a God who created the universe and then abandoned it, assuming no control over life, exerting no influence on natural phenomena, and giving no supernatural revelation

The tuesday or thursday before spring break, dr. heit was talking about rationalism in the 17th century and explained deism. Before that class session, I have never heard of deism, but as he was explaining it, I knew that I was one. He asked the class if anyone believed that god created the universe then abandoned us. I raised my hand. I did not look around to see if I was the only one.

"They do not view God as an entity in human form." Why would god have pointless things on his/her/its body? Case in point: Armpit hair, nipples for males, belly button

"They believe that one cannot access God through any organized religion, set of beliefs, rituals, sacraments or other practice."

"God has not selected a chosen people (e.g. Jews or Christians) to be the recipients of any special revelation or gifts."

Question 13...What if you're wrong and end up going to hell?
My personal answer: Assuming that I am wrong, I highly doubt that I would be going to hell. I believe God is logical and rational since he did create the universe and capable of thinking of things we can't even imagine. God has not given us any absolute truth that god exsist so why would he expect me to believe in any organized religion? I don't think God would send his creations to such a place as hell. Although this does not warrant us to go fuck anything that moves.

Follow-up: According to MSword and Windows XP, the last modified date was Mar. 25 2004. So I only wrote for 6 days. It is 1 page long. It is good to know that I thought about making a movie about terrorism before Team America World Police.
