in my line of work, you are bound to see a few dead bodies. i just didnt know it would be this soon.

i was doing my nightly rounds and checking on my patients.everyone was fine. at around 2:00 i went on my lunch break and when i came back mrs.robertson was dead. it happened really quickly and it was the first time anyone had died on my shift. i had never seen a dead body before so i was freaking out on the inside but trying to remain professional on the outside.

but then they told me i would have to be the one to clean her up and get her ready to be taken to the mortuary.

it was the weirdest thing in the world. its weird to look at someone and not see them breath...cuz everyone i had ever looked at in my life was breathing...and she wasnt.

she was still really warm when i cleaned her up and put a new hospital gown on her but she was sooo....limp. it was just weird.

then her daughter told me that about 5 minutes before she passed everyone in the room felt a really cold breeze and they were all talking about what it could be when mrs. robertson opened her eyes and looked at the room around her. her daughter asked her what she was smiling at and mrs. roberston said " the angels". and then she just went.

after she told me that i couldnt help but cry. thats what i do. i cry. all the time.

so much for professionalism. i told my mom about this when i got home and she just said
"beef up kid, you disect dead people in med school."

someone please remind me why i want to be a doctor???
