Book Nerdiness

Right, so the other day I'm shifting through a massive load of books we got at work from a college Rare Book Room that's been closed and being sold off to raise money for the school. Sad business from a librarian's perspective, but I'm having fun looking through the collection.

I'm sorting through the books that were set aside since they were in worse shape or less valuable than the rest. It's all a dirty business and I'm getting fed up. Then I open this grungy box to check the contents and it's like opening the Ark of the Covenant, I swear. I poke my head around and say, "I think this one got in the wrong pile!"

It's a first quarto of Macbeth! I bring it over to show, and it takes me a few minutes to describe because I'm so unsure that this is really what I'm looking at. There are apparently only nine known copies in the world, and I'm holding one.

I get to catalog it too, 'cause I found it. My hands were all shaky when I was handling it! I'm that geeky!!
