Boxing Day is evil. If I didn't already know the
origins, I would say it was named thus because trying to spend it in a traditional manner (ie - shopping) makes you want to start boxing people. Alas, that is not where the name came from.
I went out allured by the incredible 50% sales up and down the high streets. I discovered, however, that the stuff on sale is mostly crap, and the stuff you actually want is full price. However, I gave it my best shot and managed to find some cool stuff priced way over 50% off. Totally worth the Like-Black-Friday-But-Worse type crowds I had to brave.
Check it:
Brown suede wool lined boots (like Uggs, but dark brown with cute pink flowers embroidered on them)(also, I would never wear Uggs): originally £50. I paid £7!!
New handbag big enough for all my shit: originally £20. I paid £6!
I also got a ruler cause I needed it. That was not on sale, but only 80p.
I am the coolest. The boots are so comfy and warm. I also hiked all down Oxford Street which totally burned off my tall Gingerbread Latte from Starbucks.
While I seriously miss having my friends around, I am totally digging London lately. Even though it's crowded and 10 times dirtier than Chicago, at least it isn't France.
I sure wish someone would come visit me though. *sniffles*
