Lose ourselves in the fire we have lit

Aug 08, 2006 16:45

I've been in a strange state recently, namely that I haven't felt tired at all, from late at night (usual) to first thing in the morning (highly unusual). I'm not used to having quite these levels of energy, even at work. It bodes well for the weekend though ( Read more... )

In was wholly unaware of the "Goth Wars", but I'm glad I am now. Insecure old farts with "It's MY music and YOU CAN'T HAVE IT!" mentalities make me laugh so much...

Oh bollocks to that, rise above it if you're involved, sure. In the meanwhile I'll have a damn good chuckle.

If I were you, considering the fact that we don't know who it is, I wouldnt be so quick to laugh at some of your 'friends' misfortune, thus possibly incriminating yourself for advertising it. How exactly did you find out about it spike?
Everybody involved is trying to laugh at whoever this sad, lonely individual is but I dont think its fair showing it off to others and making them aware of peoples possible insecurties.
Some peoples insensitivity never ceases to amaze me.

There's going to be a hundred theories as to who it is, I doubt very much anyone reading it would think it's me. Of course if they do, it's their business, but they'd win the 'barking up the wrong tree award'.

How did I find out about it? I'm tempted to say 'none of your damn business', but Julie told me about it. She in turn would have found out from Matt and Emma, who would probably have found out about it from the people involved.

Everyone involved is talking about it, and 'showing it off' by not making a secret of it, it's obviously not news as FAR more people know about it than are involved. Simply using the internet to talk about it is no different, and to suggest otherwise is hypocritical.

Also, for the purposes of clarification (as it's maybe not as blindingly obvious as I see it), my laughs are directed at the creator of the journal, rather than anyone else mentioned there.

Some people like to ignore things until they go away. I like to laugh at them. And this being my journal, I shall do so.

My my, wasn't that an essay

hey sorry to butt into your journal here, (im the drag queen bitch one by the way;) thanks for clarifying your not laughing at those mentioned, we've never met, but have a few of mutual friends, so hi and glad it's entertained you;)
from my point of view my main concern is people who i don't know, such as yourself believing the things that have been written. it does hurt a lot, but myself and others are trying to rise above it as you say.

Hello :)

I must apologise, I really would have thought it obvious that I was laughing at the author, not his victims.

I feel I should point out that while I may be drawing attention to it, I'm not replicating anything that isn't already in the public domain (I understand there's private posts, obviously I haven't seen these). People are going to see it, and people are going to draw their own conclusions, just as I have. I'm of the opinion that most people are likely to draw the 'what a twat' conclusion.

I'm not saying this is the impression you've given, but I resent people trying to censor what i'm putting on my journal. The situation amused me, so I mentioned it. Any suggestion that I shouldn't mention it on LiveJournal is hypocritical, as I know for a fact it's contents are being discussed elsewhere.

May I ask how you knew it was mentioned here. Unless you're a regular ghost on my journal, I'm assuming someone told you about it? This really has got under people's skin hasn't it?

hey:)No need to apologise, I did not assume you were laughing at me, more the author fortunately. Im not having a go at you for putting it on there, thats your choice and if you find it amusing, which in a way I suppose it is thats fair enough honestly, thats not why im commenting to you, I just find it very humiliating what they have written thats all and wanted to point out that Im not the way they have portrayed me, though i guess anyone would deny that wouldn't they!lol ( ... )

I honestly wouldn't worry. People who read it who don't already know you (those people will have their own opinions already) are going to be divided as follows:

1. People who agree with the author. Anyone who agrees with something written in such a manner is a twat, and not worth concerning yourself with.
2. People who think the author's a twat.
3. People who don't give a toss.

All in all, the only damage that journal is doing is to the person who wrote it.

Hello there : )

I just came across all these replies to his post (!) and wanted to reiterate what Spike has said - you really don't need to worry about anyone thinking badly of you (or anyone else mentioned on that particluar journal). I was informed of its existence a while ago, and showed it to my housemate (Julie) in horror that anyone could actually do such a thing. Whoever it is about is almost by-the-by because I would say most people are simply thinking 'what a twat' this person is being!

I know some of the people mentioned, and there are others I don't know (like yourself) and I haven't come across a single person who believes any of the crap that is written there! Please have faith in the fact that most of us are intelligent and kind people, and that we wouldn't form opinions of other people (let alone ones we don't know) based purely on conjecture and the shallow opinions of an anonymous fool.

Please don't worry! We all thought what Damian said, about them being an insecure old goth!

*hugs*

ooooh, I'd imagine he does you know. Both me and Damian are well used to people talking about us behind our backs :)

Uncharacteristically, I agree with yourapocalypse on pretty much all fronts. I found it obvious who it was directed at, which is both what made it funny and part of what makes the author look such a twat - which, in turn, makes it even more funny.

Is it wrong of me to be slightly flattered by people talking about me behind my back, regardless of what it is they're actually saying?

The only thing worse than being talked about, is of course, not being talked about.

"your majesty is like a stream of bats piss".
