Don't ever fall in love, it's the Devil's own invention

Yesterday proved to be surprisingly productive for a day spent largely in bed, this was due to O2 *finally* getting the phone I want in stock. I should very shortly be the proud owner of an SE w810i, and not a moment too soon. Got a new contract as well so I'll hopefully end up spending less, I get through a ridiculous number of texts most months. Might get more photos as well, this phone's got a USB data cable/charger bundled with it, meaning I won't need crappy bluetooth. Oh, and it's a better camera. Good all round really. O2 customer services were surprisingly good again, they must be desperate for my business. After all that excitement I suffered one of my 'my GOD I love the internet' moments. See, I fancied poached eggs, and this usually results in a watery eggy mess, and me cursing Delia to high heavens. How surprised was I, then, to be rescued by B3ta, of all places? What the hell did we do before the internet eh? Oh yeah, got the womenfolk to cook ;)

Yesterday evening saw the 'Difference' charity event in the Speak Easy. The night itself went pretty much as expected, that is to say it wasn't overly well attended. No offence to Tonya, who organised it (from France, no less), but it was understandable to see why people didn't want to pay £3 to get into their local for the sake of a couple of party games and some DJs (great as we all were). Still, I had fun. I must thank lost_in_music_ for his ever essential tech support, and gadgeeuropa for throwing CDs at me when the laptop had a spazzout. For my own records, as much as anything else, here's what I played:

Setlist: Difference @ Speak Easy, 28.04.06
Sick of it All - District
Strike Anywhere - Refusal
Avail - Scuffle Town
As Friends Rust - Coffee Black
Rise Against - Everchanging
Grade - Stolen Bikes Ride Faster
Planes Mistaken For Stars - End Me In Richmond
Fugazi - Waiting Room
----------
Type O Negative - Set Me On Fire
Workhorse Movement - Keep the Sabbath Dream Alive
Grand Theft Audio - As Good As It Gets
Wildhearts - Suckerpunch
3 Colours Red - Aniseed
Therapy? - Nowhere
My Vitriol - Always: Your Way
The Clash - Train In Vain

Went straight from the Speak Easy to work, where I've been all night, fuelled by Family Guy and free coffee (if you can call it that). Hopefully this morning I'll be able to finally get my pay sorted, I've found a night shift from a couple of months ago that I wasn't paid for, and I've been chasing it up for longer than I care to remember. Been talking to Cate as well, and it looks like she's off to America for the summer. A road trip to Southampton might well be in order before she goes, then.

Right, i'll be off home, and then it's the RockSoc AGM this evening in the Speak Easy. Usually one of the comedic high points of the year, as potential candidates scrabble for votes, make speeches, and get heckled to oblivion. There's also the usual amount of internal politics and backstabbing you find in politics, at least this year it'll be (mostly) friendly. And once again it looks like the top two positions are going uncontested.

Home time :)
