Well it is that time again where a new semester begins. Right now I am sitting once again in an empty classroom waiting for Anthony to get out of class so we get dinner and I don't know maybe pretend it is still winter break. I am still not registering the fact that it ended, It went to fast but with that soon enough spring will be upon us and I yearn for the warmth. I just had two classes. I am very much excited for my creative drama class. I get to meet at an elementary school once a week and work with a group of kids on drama things and at the end of the semester put on a production. What makes it really nice is I have Meg in my class. Most of you don't know Meg but she is probably the only person I made friends with at Saint Joseph's really besides the girls from a capella. We keep having classes together but I enjoy it because I feel she's that person who makes me break out of my shell more in class. Especially with all these speech/communications classes I need it. We don't meet with the children for another 2 weeks but I get to learn a lot of facts along the way. It makes me feel fortunate to be able to do this and it makes me want to congratulate krystal also because she gets to assistant teach her own drama class at the theatre and I find that remarkable. =) I went to my next class after a break to find it not being cancelled but my teacher not being able to come so we had to take attendance and get the syllabus. THis is sociology, a class I am dreading but I hear he is the best and he wrote a book and we basically analyze his book in class. I just need to pass it to finish my core. I still have 3 more classes to endure next week which is my art design class, more time to play on the computer, my marketing class and a history class. I am also taking an online theatre class and it requires me to go to live performances and write critiques so that should be fun. Well here is to the weekend already. My store's floorset is next week but instead of overnights I will be coming to the mall at.. what did you say oh yes 4 in the morning but I don't mind. I'll get out early and actually have a day.
Well on to more exciting things, I usually don't write in here anymore and for the most part I will usually start an entry and then just delete but it I figure I'll actually write a decent one.
I came home from a vacation to London with the fam just on tuesday. It was by far one of the best experiences of my life. I know everyone doesn't necessarily have the money to just drop everything and go but really if you get that chance and I am not even saying London but to go travel or go to Europe, definately do it. I am very fortunate and appreciative my parents could take us. The adventure in itself is quite a story.
I scrambled around wednesday to get myself ready and went to bed that night feeling not so well. I woke up thursday feeling disgusting but shrugged it off. I hung out with anthony for a while then he left. The snow really started to come down so my dad wanted to leave earlier then usual because we had to travel all the way to pennsylvania for our flight. During this time in the car ride, some where around queens I threw up in my hat in the car. Not to be graphic but luckily I had a hat. I felt a lot better after but miserable to have to be in car. Then during this time we are listening to the radio and they were talking about the plane landing in the hudson. This added to my nervousness because I don't like planes. Could be why I threw up but I was definately sick.
After being on the jersey turnpike for awhile, we get stopped by a jersey trooper but he caved and let us go since my dad was like I just want to get to my flight. We sat around philadelphia airport. I was so hungry yet did not want to eat anything. The flight there was not to bad. I tried to sleep but that didn't work out too well. Plane food sucks and the movie sucked too.
We spent a lot of friday near our hotel and resting since my family wanted me to get better. We hopped into a black taxi which are very classy looking and it drove us to the hotel. I fell asleep in the carride so I missed the scenery but the rest of the trip made up for it. Our hotel had a lot of good movies, so my brothers and I kept watching movies. I think I ate my first meal that night and got an appetite back.
Saturday , we went to central london. We took an "underground", an underground is a subway but in england they have different terms for things. We arrived in piccadilly square which in comparision is like times square here. On that note, London looks very much like NYC but NYC has more taller buildings. After that we went to Trafalgar Square. (Later on that day, there was a Gaza protest. I was just around all unsafe things. haha.) We then passed a bunch of parliament houses. We went to Westminister Abbey, which is a famous church in London. Big Ben is attached to it and it was glowing. Luckily all the days we were there we caught sun, usually London is the rainy city. It happened to rain overnight but stop in the morning. We saw a bunch of old churches founded my lords but they were awesome. We walked around this park which again in comparison was like Central park but central park is bigger. But this park leads right the entrance of Buckingham Palace. The queen was home this weekend. After this my dad knew of this department store called Harrod's. It's England's most prized mall. It had designer everything from top to bottom. The best best part was right after this we headed to ABBEY ROAD!!! I was so happy about this, it's a simple dream but one of the dreams I always had to go there. There was a lot of traffic on the road so we had to be quick about taking pictures, probably the only negative thing about it. There was also a statue which the quote from Hamlet, to thine ownself be true. I got to ride on my first double decker bus after this but unfortunately because of the protest, there was nasty traffic and build up so we got off and found a cab that could drive the side streets. We ate at the hotel but the hotel was on the thames river so it was a nice outlook to the water.
The next day , my dad's friend/collegue from work who lives in england rented a van and took us around england. He drove us through the countryside to the southeast corner of England called Dover. Dover was an underground military base throughout wwII. We went on a trail through the exhibit of the underground baracks and everything was still in tact it was crazy. In the same location there was a military church and an old castle called Dover castle. It is also a river port and even though it was a bit hazy I could look across the ocean and see the coastline of France and I thought that was thrilling. After this he took us to Canterbury cathedral. This church was constructed in 1100 and is still in tact. It was by far the creative piece of architecture/art I have ever seen. Better then most cathedrals. They had a crypt of all the dead archbishops and important people from that time. It was creepy. We ate at two delicious places that day, one being a little inn on the countryside but it made me want to open one up because it was cute and quaint. I also got to eat my first batch of fish and chips authentic. The next day we visited the eastern part of London and saw the london bridge, tower bridge, and the tower of london. The tower of london was again by far the best place there I visited. It held so much history. All kings and queens stayed at this castle by the water and surrounding the castle was a blockade and in certain compartments they held prisoners. Most executions took place there and they kept all the original pieces but everything dated back to between 1000-1800. We then took a stroll up to white chapel, where the jack the ripper killings happened. There is no landmark but you could see the alleyways and all the old authentic apartments and it really was a scary part of the city. Like the scanty part of town. We found this restaurant that we thought had steaks and stuff because of the name but it really wound up being thai food. It was cute to celebrate the last night my parents bough us cocktails and we hung around the lounge room. But it was still yummy.
The following morning we got a taxi again to take us to the airport but luckily I stayed awake and got to see the scenery one last time before we left. The experience of driving on the opposite of the ride was interesting and it left me holding on to the seat for most of any ride. They show no mercy there. And I don't know if it was because we were tourists but the british are snubs and rude. I saved some of my english pounds. There currency is beautiful too. The plane ride home sucked because it was longer and so much turbulence. I didn't deal with that well. I was also mad that I missed the inauguration coverage but when we landed they handed the passengers american flags. What a nice touch.
But to talk about the inauguration for a bit. It gave me chills to watch and I really was impressed by the speeches and the unity that day. I never was one for politics and I still don't even know much but I was glad I followed up on this election and really hope promises are kept and our country can head into a great direction. & hell who wouldn't want beyonce seeing to you at the ball. michelle&obama143.
I can't wait to travel again. I have a list of places I want to go. sigh.
But with that it was an amazing and rewarding trip and I needed to write it down so I can look back on it.
