I was on the motorcycle, weaving through downtown traffic. I had intentionally been increasing the speed more and more frequently until instead of a blur of vehicles around us there was only one big blur as we sped to our destination. The interior of my helmet smelled like new car.
I could feel the sub sonic rumble coming out of the turbines of the motorcycle and the vibration moved up through my body through each point of contact with the machine.
I wove through traffic, going with the flow and driving between two delivery vans. I cut off a lexus and took a short cut through several alleys. There was a close call with a fruit stand, but fortunately I avoided from knocking it over.
By the time we had reached the warehouse it was apparently over. The slayer was departing the building, carrying a civilian with her. I braked near them and the tires momentarily squealed but did not smoke. I was touched by that, ordinary tires would have been smoking if not bursting into flame after braking from such a velocity. Our scientists were to be commended.
Excellent. This slayer was making progress. Bringing out a civilian alive with her showed both initiative and leadership skills. I became more appreciative of her already... it was rare for unwatched Slayers to be this skillful.
I flipped up the visor of my helmet. "A raise isn't completely out of the question, but my sense is that you would prefer a hot bath after your experience with the Spider Demons." I said warmly.
The sun fell inside my helmet and illuminated part of my face. My slate blue eyes twinkled as I grinned to them both. The objective had apparently been completed with no loss of life. No loss of human life that is.
