I just wanted to send a little note to say Feliz Dia de Las Madres to you all. As you all know, this is the first mothers day for me and A and its making me reflect a lot on how we mamas are really carrying this whole world on our shoulders.
Bringing A into a world that is filled with so much pain and greed and oppression and exploitation does, at moments, keep me up at night (that and hit little hot feet jabbing me in my abdomen). But knowing that DH and I are in such good company and that A is growing up alongside your little miracles and that one day they all will be sitting around a table
planning actions and painting banners makes it all feel a little less overwhelming. Witnessing you all mother your children is a beautiful thing that has taught me a lot not just about motherhood but also about the possibility for revolutionary change.
It seems like sometimes out in the world exchanges between moms are laced
with a little bit of competition and insecurity. No doubt this is also
structural and ingrained in us by this fucked up system. So, today, I
just wanted to send a little love note and a little note of thanks for
your support and friendship during this past year.
I wanted to write personalized cards to each of you expressing this all
but (in a shocking turn of events) I ran out of time. So, i hope this
little notes expresses to each of you the admiration I have for you as
a mother, the recognition of all the hard work you put in at every single
hour of every single day, and the thanks I have to you for building a
better world.
