By Request: A Virtual Tour

For those of you whom I have not told, my living situation in Albuquerque is this: I am living in a rather large apartment complex in the east central part of ABQ (the airport code and generally accepted abbreviation of the city's name) a.k.a. the "War Zone". I am in a second floor, two bedroom apartment which I share with the other full time teacher at ELM. The apartment itself is former millitary housing (ABQ has an Air Force Base) and is in generally dumpy condition. With paint and a little time devoted to hanging things on the walls, I am satisfyed with it as a living space.

My roommate is Jessica; she makes a good roommate. Besides school, our schedules are very different so we both get time alone at home, which we agree is a good thing since we work together. It is great to have her around when I need to vent about teaching frustrations because we both work with the same kids every day. I don't foresee us becoming best friends because we don't connect on all levels, but we agree on the important stuff. We are both some sort of foodie, we just started composting in our kitchen, she bakes bread and cans things to relax and I have been experimenting with vegetarian and/or Indian dishes recently. We are in the process of joining a CSA program.

I replaced my lake-ruined camera with a cheapo digital, in hopes that I will be able to get a nicer digital in the not-so-distant future.

Let me show you around. (Sorry about the large format of some pictures, they should shrink down momentarily.)

This is the view of the living room when you step in the front door.

This is the opposite and less interesting side of the living room.

The view of the kitchen looking in from the living room.

A view of the kitchen sink.

And the kitchen table.

Walk down the little hall past the bathroom and Jessica's room.
This one is mine.

From another angle.

The closet, because I know you really wanted to see it.

The bookshelf wall, and that's about all there is to see.

In other news, we have been having serious plumbing issues at school this week. Yesterday the hall outside my classroom flooded and we had to build a bridge out of old cabinet shelves to keep kids from soaking their shoes.

And I found this espresso cup set at a Savers. Both the red saucer and cup are broken--that explains the thrift find, I think. Now all I need is an espresso maker...
