potluck and project pictures

Sorry the quality of some of these isn't the greatest.
This will just give an idea to those of you who couldn't come.
Or help the rest of you relive the madness....

There was art everywhere. Even on the oven.

Really? Three drinks, Lauren?

Wine gone. And then we cut my hair!

I have to admit, I was a little disappointed with it...
(Thanks for the documentation, Jess.)

But it's okay, Kate fixed everything. For three hours. On an organ bench.
In her yard, then in the garage.
"You are like a sculpture. I'm sculpting you."
Then we vacuumed each other off, power snacked and rode bikes.

I'm really happy with the short hair now. Actually, I feel myself again. I've always been a short hair girl at heart.
My mom tells me she always cut it short when I was little because I would get gum stuck in it or I would take scissors to it myself and really make things interesting...

The motivation for the art show:
Ocean trash and sand from the Jersey Shore, hot glue, sharpie, watercolors, paper, chocolate box foam, matte board.

Text detail. Can't seem to get away from words.

And another recent project.

Magazine ad text clippings, nail polish, eyeliner, lipstick, mascara, glitter, fake fingernails with tabs, random cosmetic junk, acrylic paint, brown paper bag, newsprint, packing tape, chocolate box foam, Mouth and "YOU SUCK!" made entirely out of ridiculous cosmetics I wanted to use...not on my face or fingers.
Thanks for the photos, Lauren.
Couldn't have gotten this resolution with you.

And this has nothing to do with anything:
Hobbs killed a pregnant mouse, left the head on the front porch, the body and
fetuses on the back deck. Then he got his claws cut.

In other news, as if this post were not already excessive: I picked my bike up with new tires on it today--and then I got hit by a huge SUV!! (In the front tire) that didn't even stop!! I'm okay, and the bike, after a little adjusting is fine, too. However, I am generally irate with the world of gas guzzling vehicles and the careless, oblivious people who drive them. My life flashed in front of me. For a second I thought I was about to die. I guess I should be more careful on my bike in the road, riding on the defense, but some people!....grr...
