a week of firsts

Mar 29, 2008 01:33

I did all this for the first time this week:

-took a flight out of Chicago's Midway airport
-drove into Chicago from the south
-woke up at 4am and went to bed at 4am in the same week
-took a solo taxi ride
-rode a greyhound bus
-drew pictures with the intention of leaving them in a public places for strangers (Lauren, you inspire me)
-watched Stagecoach
-turned off a car still in drive, messing things up
-saw/hung out at a certain friends apartment
-launched a campus wide dry-erase graffiti advertisement
-got a TA position (Gen 300, fall '08, hurrah!)
-made a green bean casserole--with fresh (ish) beans and mushrooms, yum.
-admitted to the 6th graders I am still learning, too
-made contact with possible schools for student teaching
-thought about water treatment as a part of creation care
-considered going to Africa in June
-went out on the gravel road NE of campus
-did outdoor bike triathalon training
-got a flat bike tire
-learned about factorials
-journaled 5 pages in one sitting with a fine point sharpie and got nauseated
-rode in a blazer
-went in a prison and met lots of inmates
-ate corned beef hash
-heard a veteran admit he really enjoyed killing people in WWII
-heard a woman say she remembers when her household got it's first radio in 1934

I love the college life and all the opportunities it brings me. I am so blessed.

I made a new friend today--one of those people that seems to reveal more they unknowingly have in common with you every time they open their mouth. Huzzah, huzzah!

You have eyes like mine. Are we strangers or am I you are I?
