So sorry about your knee!tubaman44April 3 2010, 23:10:40 UTC
I haven't been on here since, August, yet somehow today felt an urge to come back, and now I see your story about your knee. So sorry! Been there, done that, and I remember the days on the couch oh too well. I too had my mom around the first day, but yeah, you find out so quickly that mostly you're on your own for so many moments. The great thing is (if there is a great thing here)-so much progress has been made in these areas that you will recover, and recover well. I did the ACL at age 31, you wonder what you will be able to to afterwards. I later went on to run marathons 10 years later. Never thought that would happen. Truthfully though, I stay away from most cutting and slashing, like basketball. But you're so young, you'll be fine! (although it may not seem like it right now)
One piece of advice given to me by a rehab person-don't push it after you get back on your feet. Your knee will likely feel good, and tight. But give it time for the supporting tissue to reform. I truly took a year before I tried anything too crazy. Stayed with walking, biking, stairmaster, no running, basketball, racquet sports. Did the other stuff later. No regrets.
Wow, I feel bad for you, I will definitely pray for you. Congrats on getting married too.
