What's the thing you've always wished really existed? Time machines? Wormhole travel? Professor Gadget's legs? This is a tricky challenge when it comes to classifying what is fictional and what isn't, and what counts as the same thing and what doesn't? You can say "The Tardis" (assuming it's built, not an organism...?) and make all your icons of the Tardis. But you can also say "Time machines" and icon all different types of time machines as one thing. Whole fictional worlds and genres don't count as inventions - i.e. "Harry Potter" is not an invention per se, and neither are "elves" or "wizards". But a flying broom from Harry Potter would count. Cylons... might count, too, like other androids. The Earth as a man-made construction, like in the Hitchhiker's Guide, would also count. A lot of it is open to interpretation. I trust your judgement, and you can always ask if you're not sure.
Have fun!
