[A few minutes after the transmission Castiel finds himself standing outside Dean's-what used to be Dean's-room. He has a cat cradled in his arms and a journal in his left hand. He's staring pensively at the door as if it will open any moment and give him the answers he seeks.
He couldn't stop wondering if Dean was back in Hell rotting away or if by some trick of fate he was allowed in Heaven as a late reward he so deserved by never got...not without a price. He also couldn't stop feeling as if he'd failed yet again. In saving him, in keeping him safe. Once again he never got the chance to say goodbye.]
