I think I probably saw this coming halfway in; maybe you did too, maybe that's why we each went about our own ways preparing for the end, dismantling what was once there and putting up new walls brick by brick, so much so that when the end finally came (and it did) it wasn't so much the grand finale or the final aching swansong I had come to expect. No acute sense of loss, no impaired judgement, no broken heart(s), more like the way they repeat the last line of the chorus at the end of the song, over and over (I think they call it a fade-out, how apt), softer and softer, until you can't quite tell if it really still is echoing, or whether it's all just a figment of your imagination. (until the next song starts)
