That 99 versus 1 Occupy Everywhere bit

There's a reason I eschew making politically motivated posts more often than I make them: I'll own I'm grossly under informed. I don't want to add to the static and hiss by chucking yet another half-baked theory based upon something somebody might have said in or out of context; I don't think that's part of the solution in the least. I did see that; thanks very much for posting the link.

I nearly got into a row with a complete stranger via Facebook on this score today, and this is something I Do Not Do, 'cos... janey bloody mercy, we can't truly understand another person's point of view via that medium. It's daft. Apparently, I'm a bit on edge about it all. I don't like it being assumed that my circumstances are borne of my own sin - and that's, sadly, what I think it comes down to: sin.

This fellow at Facebook...it was myself and another friend of mine disagreeing with him. Her experience is that she's got degrees, and yet she's spent the past five years looking for work. She's an event planner, so what does your man do? Says he 'have you applied to hotels'? As though somebody who studied hospitality at school would not have considered this first. Really, mate? I mean fucking really?

Aaaaargh. What I've learnt through my own experience is we're all nearer to disaster than we realise - and this isn't doomsaying. Fortunately, most of us will never encounter that perfect storm that sees out in the streets and begging. Sez she, hoping to god that's not wishful thinking.

I've had the hook of this old hymn playing in my head for the past handful of days, and it goes: whatsoever you do/to the least of my brothers/that you do unto me.
