For the Lejeune people:

I'm looking for furnished places around JAX and I found some through ABA Rentals...Has anyone delt with them or heard anything??? I found some others but they are more expensive. Any feedback would be appreciated ... THANKS =)

I live in an ABA apartment [for 2 more weeks lol]. Depends where you are coming from, I guess... We are in a small place because it was the only furnished place available when we moved in. I live in Cordell Village and I've never been in any of the other rental places they own, so all I can speak of is this place. It isn't the Taj Mahal, but it's clean and comfortable. Whenever I get frustrated with the apartment I just remind myself how much money we're saving! We rented it furnished and then gave back the furniture peice-by-piece as we bought our own. The furniture is old and not-so-great if you get furnished, but it was better than nothing, which is what we had to begin with. Let me know if there is anything else I can answer for you!

Yeah see Josh is going to recruting school sometime around December we think...so we will only be in the apartment from Sept to December when we leave. We are not wanting to buy furniture because we won't be in Jacksonville long or in San Diego long enough to truck furniture around...ya know. So we are holding off to get some until he gets out of school and we get placed somewhere. Thanks so much for the info. *hugs*

Since the military is paying for your moves, you may be interested in buying furniture a little at a time. Jacksonville prices are much lower than a lot of other places in the country. We're moving into our first house and have to buy a ton of furniture, but luckily we have living room and bedroom furniture already paid for so it's less money to shell out all at once. There's also places here that will finance 12 months same as cash. But yea, the furniture wasn't great but we just put slipcovers over it and pretended!

When do you think I should start calling and stuff??? Can we can get one right away or do I need to start stuff in advance to make sure. He is coming home from Iraq around October and I was going to plan to go around September. I'm just all new at this so I'm just trying to figure stuff out.
