Well, I bought some games about two weeks ago when I got paid for watching high school kids be bored at their scholastic based summer camp. So, anyway, I bought Gun and Half-Life 2 for the Xbox. Played the hell out of both of them, and now I've got no reason to play 'em anymore. They were both over pretty quick, but I can't say I resent their purchase. I guess I'll write a little about each.
Gun: Fantastic, even if the game's mechanics boil down to something akin to an extremely short western themed Grand Theft Auto. The theme is cool, the gameplay is fun while it lasts, and the side missions are at least somewhat interesting. The story and graphics were solid too. Regardless, the game was too short and had quite a list of bugs that hold it back.
Half-Life 2: I loved almost every minute of it. Being Gordon Freeman-the crate pushing, crowbar swinging, MIT doctorate sporting, one man alien/human killing machine-once again just felt right. However, the driving segments got old real quick, and the infuriating ending of Half-Life is back, and it's still just as infuriating as the first time. As an aside, the game looks gorgeous, even on the Xbox.
Yeah, so I'm pretty happy with my games. I'm looking to play through Knights of the Old Republic again, but my aging Xbox just doesn't seem to want to let me. Oh well.
