Update

Haven't updated my LJ, so this is going to be a rather long update, sorry for this in advance ...

The trip to Bangkok in April was ok. It was a lot of work to do, but I really met interesting people which I will be working now together with, but nevertheless we could not achieve as much progress with our Thai customers as hoped.
I decided not to call May that I will come and I am not sure if it was the right decision. But I am not sure if I will go back to Thailand again, it all depends on how business will go on.

In the company there is really a lot of work to do right now. Since january I did some 160 extra hours and my boss (the big-boss of the company) just asked me if I can come in tomorrow (Saturday) as well.

Talking about different jobs: The one company in Carinthia is still strongly interested in me, but I do not wanna go there, the work is just not interesting for me. I am still waiting for both the project in Vienna (were I got a letter saying that they are interested in me, but will decide at a later stage who to invite for an interview) and Dublin for precise information if the want me to work for them. These two possibilities have top priority for me right now. I have to admit that my current job gets more and more interesting to me, but that the payment is way too low - I would earn much more if I change to another company.

Beside this, I still managed to make some progress with my Ph.D. thesis. Finished a first beta of the written thesis, which is anything but complete, but a good starting point. An just on wednesday I got another paper accepted in a conference in Calgary / Canada this summer. Well, last december my supervisor told me that I need one more paper in order to prove the scientific relevance of my work. So here we have the prove for this. I already talked with him and I can go to the conference, but from the whole travel expenses of 2200 euros, I will have to pay 700 by myself. If this is the price to finish by Ph.D., I am fine with that.

On the military side I got into the Austrian AFDRU unit, which is some kind of crisis management unit serving abroad e.g. after an earthquake, tsunami or hurricane. I will work as signals officer in this unit as soon as I have completed basic training in october. Before this there are two major exercises in summer I have attend to in order to become S6 of our battalion one day. And in july I will participate on the 4DAAGSE marching event in the Netherlands, we I have to walk 200 kilometers within four days. I am already excited on this ...

So things are pretty busy right now, but at least I don't get bored.
