It's amazing, the things you find out while surfing the interweb! I have decided that Japan is the coolest country ever. I have a theory that there is crack cocaine in the water, because they come up with the strangest ideas and fads.
"Prince of Tennis" is an extremely popular anime in Japan (and here). The show is absolutely ridiculous. It's about a 12 year-old tennis prodigy and his middle school tennis team. Everyone looks like they are in high school or college, and each character has a catch-phrase and his own crazy tennis moves. For example, Taka always screams, "BURNING!!!" when he touches a tennis racket. There are even full episodes where all the characters are chibi.
This is the team:

However, it gets better. THERE IS A "PRINCE OF TENNIS" MUSICAL! YES, A MUSICAL! WITH ACTUAL PEOPLE! Here is the cast:

However, the guy who plays Tezuka (Yuu Shirota), does not look Japanese to me. When I first saw him, I thought, "Why does he look like Gael Garcia Bernal?!" Well, turns out he's half Spanish! I thought that was quite cool!! So, really, I wasn't too off with the Gael Garcia Bernal thing. Hehe.
See what I mean?
