Valentine's Day: Part Four

Jamie, Liv and Jimmy were still playing pool but Regina and Loki felt it safe to leave.

"Busy night," said Regina.

"These silly holidays always are." Loki smiled towards Liv. Everything was proceeding nicely.

"Happy Valentines Day," murmured Regina.

Nate's mom woke him up when she got home to hear how it went. She was pleased with the oddly hopeful, if vague, response.

Tallulah came home with two couples, both older than her, and both wanting to split for their rooms. She made it clear she was perfectly fine and retired to her own room before letting herself cry.

Dario left a Valentine for his mother on the table before heading to his room. And a box of candy with the tag removed that Clay had given him for the same purpose.

Bobby walked swiftly and silently through the living space of their apartment. His only response to his mother's greeting was to close the door.

Bianca's mother wasn't home when she arrived. Out with the flavor of the month. She calmly changed into her pajamas and then turned to the refrigerator to find something to feed the cat.

Steve dropped Jenna at home. He didn't kiss her good night. But she did smile when he said he'd give her a call.

Ben brought Lindy back to the dorm after their date. Lately she felt calmer curled into his body than she did in either of her two too empty rooms. Judd was asleep.

Teddy and Winona stumbled home in the wee hours of the morning. He carried her piggy-back up the stairs and they made it to the futon in the lower level living room before giving in to exhaustion. As he drifted off Winona whispered thanks. He'd always be her best Valentine.

Cooper fell asleep in her room at the family building. It was late and she was tired, it's why she had a suite there. When she'd tucked her little sister in, Norma-Jean had said she'd had a better night than any she'd spent with silly boys.

Peter knocked on Amelia's door when he and Carol returned after midnight. He nudged the door at the lack of response. Jake's eyes opened at the movement and he met Peter's gaze in the dark. Amelia was fast asleep in his arms, her hand clutching his shirt the only evidence of her perpetual anxiety. Her ring caught the light of the hall behind her father and sparkles danced across the couple. Peter smiled and closed the door.

Vincent and Anthony ended their date at the all night Starbucks in the train station. Anthony handed Vincent his cup with a smile. Tall, Skinny, Hot, and Raspberry were checked off down the side.  "I love you." was written where a name would normally go.

Trick and Ginny arrived for the reservation her mother had made ninety minutes late and half covered in paint -- they'd changed clothes, but dried flecks dotted skin and hair. Anyone else would have been turned away but Starks are special.

As the holiday drew to a close Tony spun Mandy around their apartment, crooning along to the stereo. Her laughter punctuated the song perfectly.

"Happy Valentine's Day."
