Author's Notes: Pride is, by tradition, the root of all the other sins...
Pride leads to a sense of blind power. It was curious enough that his father had ended like he once had- by pride, by blindness, by the simple idea of keeping somebody this dangerous (like Barty was) under control; and if he himself had sinned, he had sinned but in the very beginning of his adult life, under the fooling guide of Bellatrix- his present self would laugh at the ingenuity of launching himself like that, without any precaution but the Unforgivables at his lips and a mind full of dreams of grandeur.
He couldn't serve his Lord dead, like his father, fool, was.
One thing he could take pride upon, now that everything had ended, and everything began, was that he had ignored what pride himself caused him to think, and achieved more than anybody else could have hoped to give his Lord.
