From the CBR coverage of the "Cup O'Joe" Panel at C2E212

"The panel revealed that "Hawkeye" will be the new series from Matt Fraction and David Aja. Singh explained how the book will focus on Clint Barton's life as the Avenger who's a regular man with no superpowers but who deals with the craziness of the Marvel Universe. "If you're a Matt ( Read more... )

"If you're a Matt Fraction fan who likes the crazy, off the wall swagger he gave Doctor Strange...you're going to love this," he added.

Who's actually a fan of Matt Fraction, though?

Heh, yes. Then he's going to crush his characters, and rocks fall, everyone dies, if he has to leave the title, or hand it over to anyone else.

Ugh god, this is what I was afraid was going to happen. The characters of YA are all going to fracture off into other titles that I don't care about. I'm really worried where Eli's going to land.

As long as none of them end up in the X-men or Avengers Academy they'll be fine.

I'm hoping Eli ends up in Captain America or Winter Soldier. Brubaker wrote an amazing Eli in his issue of YA:P.

Eli just got on the bus and left the Marvel U, I'm afraid to say. I don't think we're going to see much of him at all. The other writers seem to respect Heinberg's work re the status quo, more or less.

Ugh at Matt Fraction, though.

IIRC, Eli moved to Arizona with his mom and siblings. So he's effectively off-panel until someone decides to kill him or have the remaining Young Avengers steal a Quinjet.

I hope I'm not the only person that's looking forward to this...

I mean, I love the YA team, but it'll be interesting to see Kate branch out in a different direction. I especially look forward to her interaction with Clint, since I've always thought their personalities complemented each other well. Granted, I'm not especially a Fraction fan, but that doesn't mean I think he'll ruin this title, either. I have high hopes.

I'm looking forward to this too! Honestly I'm surprised that more people aren't excited for this. It's the first time a Young Avenger has had a role in an ongoing book since Slott's Mighty Avengers. Only this time there isn't the looming shadow of Heinberg and Cheung's return in "Young Avengers Season Two" to prevent any character development for them.

And Fraction wrote a great Clint and Kate story in Young Avengers Presents, it was probably the best of the bunch (barring Brubaker's Eli). Yes a lot of Fraction's recent work (Uncanny X-men, Fear Itself) hasn't been very good but this is still the man who wrote things like Immortal Iron Fist and the Order, so maybe I'm willing to give him a chance.

Fraction's skill has regressed in direct correlation to his fame, tbh. I honestly feel that he's been going backwards. It could be good, or it could not. Student/teacher dynamics are always good, I hope they stay on that side, and not go towards the icky. But it's Marvel, you never know.

I can see the character captions now:

"Clint Barton: Totally died. Totally revived. Totally not feeling having a sidekick."

"Kate Bishop: Totally apprenticed. Totally psyched. Totally trying to play it cool."

Kate is an apprentice?

*cracks up* If Clint is expecting her to listen to anything he says, boy is he in for a surprise!

As an X-Fan, the name "Matt Fraction" makes me quake with terror...except his one-shot for YA Presents, also Kate and Clint focused, was actually really, really good. If he can keep that up with the two of them, this book could be good.

Also, just 'cause Kate is hanging out with Hawkeye doesn't mean she's left the team. Clint's still an Avenger, so she probably is too; I'm thinking oldschool Wolverine and Jubilee, off having adventures in Wolverine but still showing up in the X-Men title.

Granted, Jubilee didn't show up too often in X-Men, but she was there.
