part two - i can't write anything short what. countersparking August 29 2009, 02:05:25 UTC
Shopping with Kate was... actually not nearly quite as terrifying as Billy had imagined.

She was surprisingly gentle with him, and though he suspected that this was mostly because she'd never dragged him shopping before and she was probably trying not to break him in one fell swoop of credit cards and sales assistants, though she did do a good job of keeping the latter away from them with a wonderfully sweet smile and a confident exclamation of "I think we've got an idea of what we're looking for, but thank you for offering to help" while Billy simply shuffled around near by and tried to be rather inconspicious. Kate also took him to pretty normal kinds of stores, nothing fancy or particularly intimidating.

"You know, besides the cape, jeans and t-shirts are totally acceptable, you just actually need to buy some every once in a while instead of buying them huge and waiting to grow into them or whatever it was you were planning with that one-" Billy pulled a face, but Kate went on, undeterred, rifling through the racks with considerable ease, "-you're a good looking guy, Billy, and you might be taken but you might as well make the most of it anyway. Not saying that you need a whole wardrobe of skin-tight clothes, but the occasional t-shirt that actually fits you would be a good step."

Honestly, Billy wasn't taking much of this in. He was distracted, to an extent, by how animated Kate was when she talked about clothes, and how comfortable she was simply diving into the men's section of a store and picking out various things for Billy to try on. She seemed so ridiculously confident all the time, it really baffled him sometimes. But it was pretty admirable, too. She wasn't afraid to make her point and take the lead when it need to be taken (not that Billy really thought that any lead needed to be taken when his clothes were concerned - and definitely not his cape, thank you very much).

"It's better to reserve baggy for things like sweaters and jumpers than t-shirts, because you can always wear a baggy sweater on top of a normal sized t-shirt. Also, I beg you, please be mindful of colours. If you insist on wearing that cape, avoid greens or you're just going to look like malfunctioning elf with a growth spurt."

Billy snorted, tuning only enough to hear this, tugging at the hem of his current shirt, which was a safe sort of off-white colour, though Billy suspected it may have once been grey. Kate shrugged as if to say "what, you know it's true", and Billy managed a small noise of very slightly reluctant agreement. At this point Kate was pushing more shirts and a pair of jeans in his direction again; Billy sighed, shuffling towards the changing room and ignoring Kate's remarks on straightening his posture, proceeding to slump further when Kate tried to pull his shoulders back and push his chest forward.

However, Kate reminded him that she had more painful methods of making him stand up straight, so Billy relented quite quickly.

"I'm never going shopping with you again, you know."

Kate merely gave him a brilliant smile in response.

"telling Billy not to wear his cape in public was probably as useful as telling a zebra not to be stripy."

THESE ARE TRUFAX.

I have wanted to see this for a while, so thank you! But I think Kate needs to get Billy something sexy to wear around Teddy, possibly involving tight jeans.
