Ex-Panic! at the Disco men look to the future with The Young Veins

FORMER PANIC! At The Disco guitarist Ryan Ross and bassist Jon Walker are gearing up to release their debut album with The Young Veins.

Ryan and Jon recorded Take A Vacation! last autumn with the help of Rob Mathes (who produced Panic!'s second album Pretty. Odd) and Phantom Planet frontman Alex Greenwald, before expanding their line-up to include bassist Andy Soukal, keyboard player Nick White and drummer Nick Murray.

"We had almost all the songs finished before we went in to record so I think it allowed it to be a relatively stress-free recording process," Ryan explains. "It was great to have a lot of our friends help us out and play on these songs. It was different in many ways for Jon and I, and it was probably the most challenging, exciting and fun recording I've been part of!"

Ryan is also keen to point out that he and Jon are still good friends with their former Panic! bandmates, frontman Brendon Urie and drummer Spencer Smith.

"We just had different opinions on how we wanted to do things, which unfortunately weren't things which we could change," he says of the split. "I think different musical tastes had a lot to do with it.

"When you've been part of something for so long it can be acrimonious, but Jon and I don't wish any ill will toward those guys," Ryan adds. "We're just happy to be playing music we love."

The album Take A Vacation! will be release on July 5 through One Haven Music.

Sorry I've copied another one of these from Kerrang! It's word-from-word from this issue:
