Severus clutched the books to his chest as he walked through the library. There was nobody around; he assumed that they were taking advantage of the nice weather and sitting outside to do anything but study. He certainly didn't bother with all of that.

Ignoring Pince's suspicious look, he weaved his way through the stacks toward a much unused section of the library. Here was his favorite spot in the castle, for, surrounded by books on history and completely hidden from view of anyone in the main part of the room, was a window with a perfect view of the lake and the forest beyond it. Around this time it also made a perfect frame for the setting sun, and it was at times like these when Severus felt his most completely, consumingly, numbingly, blissful emptiness.

It was times like these when Severus almost liked himself.

He sat at the small table, looking out at the sunset again, then opened his potions text. Empty or not, he had homework. He just hoped that noone would come back here, as he really needed to finish this.
