I'm thinking of starting the book club again, if there's any interest. Anyone?

Other than that, I am curious what people have for hobbies. I was asked about them earlier and wasn't entirely certain how to answer. I read I suppose. And I like the garden.

I have the hobby of investigating the technologies of the future.

...Was it you who put the steak in the dryer?

[Because Valmont's inner teenager thought that was hi-larious!]

Might I ask what other pieces of technology you're interested in experimenting with?

Yes, that was I. Many did not appreciate it.

I am interested in all the technologies of the future, but in particular those utilising electricity.

Is that fun? That seems more like work to me, but I am not so much interested in science as some.

It is great fun indeed! I have always felt as if there were a great pit in my chest waiting to be filled with knowledge. The barge provides such things with ease.

I read for that. I suppose I am not as adventurous.

There is great adventure in reading alone. One ought not to discount it.

You think so?

I do indeed. It expands the mind and is much safer indeed.

I'll agree on the safer aspect.

You do not agree that it has intellectual merit?

Some, but unless it's a textbook, it's mostly a passive experience. Most learning would be accidental.

I do not agree. I think you can seek out knowledge in all that is read. The path is merely longer.

Perhaps you're right. It simply doesn't feel quite like true study to me unless there is a stern professor urging me on and giving tests and exams.

This is not true learning. True learning is discovering such wonders for yourself.

There you are contradicting what you said. If reading a book under the supervision of a teacher isn't learning, then neither is simply reading it on my own.

I don't happen to agree. There are many things best taught by example first.
