Aiya Mellon Nin. (Sindarin for "hi my friends," I hope I spelled it right.)
My heart rejoices to read all of your support. It VERY much helps, and trust me, I won't get a big head. Fist, to answer Ren about my Tipi questions; the actuall tipi is canvas, yes. The liner (which is VERY important, because it's what actually what really keeps you dry and mostly insulated, and is a big part with air cerculation.)(I'll talk more about it when we FINALLY get to see eachother again.) made out of heavy duck cloth. Wich is basicallt the same thing the Austrailian dusters are made out of. My inner diameter is 10 ft. I will not be painting or putting any designs on my Tipi. Myaybe some day on my liner though.
The people who know me here, who know about my Tipi and stuff were very suprised to find out I wasn't going to be putting any designs on my tipi. I'm not because I find that the simplicity and plainess of just the canvass by itself is perfiectly gorgeous to me. When it is lit up by the fire inside it looks like a Chinese lantern in a sense. When you're inside at night and the moonlight is shining through the plain tipi, that to is gorgeous. When you wake up in the morning and the sunlight wakes you up and you hear the birds chirping in the air and on the tips of the polls. Then you eyes focuse and you see that plain canvas lit up by the sun, and you follow the polls with you eyes up to the top where they are tyed togeather, that is so beautiful and perfect. I could not destroy that feeling the image of simplicity from the plain tipi gives me. Oh!! woe is me, I am so thatnkful that got put the spark of romance in me. It makes life so woth living.
Anyway, to answer the rest of your questions. What I have is considered a "plains" tipi. The smoke flaps themselves I guess lend it to be considered that it's a Sioux style. the door is a just an oval. The ends of the polls tops I will be tying leahter, or horse hair. So I can have an easy idea of which way the wind is blowing. Around here (Bend) it typically blows fro the east/north east. But it's that way I find most of the time anywhere I travel. I think that answers the tipi questions. My pants are made from tanned deer skin. I have stitched them togehter with leather and sinew. They are open in the croch and but. But the loin cloth (wich is also deer skin) covers those areas. The loin cloth is sioux style, in the sense that it tappers to a point at about the length just above my knees. I have dyed the loin cloth and interesting burnt/rust brownish color. But the edges are dark green the fade lighter into the brown. I am most likely going to bead two thin collums into the loincloth, and possiblly the back one too with this design I have drawn. The desgin consist basically of a cross, the Sioux, Shayanee, and a couple other plains tribes symbol of medicine (wich in most tribes laguages I have found out, "medicine" means anything from the literal sense to love, happiness, and god.) wich is a cross with a circle around it, the christian fish symbol and at the end an arrow broken into, wich means peace.
I have not been praticing sword fighting that much. I have been praticing knifwe throwing and tomahawke throwing. I guess mt attention is focused on other things right now. I do still pratice all the moves I know a sword, at least once a week. But I know I already know how to defend myself in physicall combat well enough. I just am wanting to focus on other things. Like healing and how to battle verbally. Truly, I tell you all...I really have no desire to hurt or kill people. I can and would if I had too. But I would much rather make peace and help in the fight for good...You can not fight hate with hate my friends, that just gives breed to new hate. Just like you cannot fight anger with anger as well. You have to fight evil with something it doesn't know. Tjis I tell you is true my friends.
I would go into all of this and more, but the library is closing now, and I have a only a couple of minutes remaining. I love you all, and my peace, joy and love go with you all wheever you go.
God bless my friends,
~Teiwaz
