Okay I am super tired and have been awake about a half an hour, so this won't be terribly coherent but DEAL WITH IT. >:]

So! At first, Terezi was convinced she didn't have any red feelings for him at all, and even told Kanaya that in their first few months in camp. But the more time she spent with him in person instead of through a computer on the other end of paradox space, the more she realised that wasn't exactly true. Obviously. By the time That Truth Post had rolled around, she was fully ready to ignore it unless he broke his cool and said something first. And when that happened, she... wasn't exactly ready for it, because the last thing she expected was for Dave to lose his cool!

Derailing myself for a moment to toss in an important side note: Spending so much time with her nose literally all up in Dave's life while stuck on the meteor introduced her to some human concepts that she wasn't really familiar with before, and then being thrust into a more or less human society here in camp really only further stuck these to her - specifically, the idea of positive romantic relationships being based more in "love" than "pity". Which makes her feelings for him even more complicated. Because she does pity him, but by her understanding of what romantic love is supposed to be, she's also kind of in love with him!

Moving on to the Threesome... Terezi is selfish and wants everything to be on her terms and ending in the way she wants. She's always been that way, and I don't see it changing drastically any time soon. She's ecstatic that Dave immediately and without much fuss gave into her frankly pretty ridiculous selfish desire to be with both him and Karkat. She doesn't care if he's only doing it ironically or whatever, because she's fully aware of the fact that his ironic coolkid bullshit is a cover-up half the time (a cover-up that she thinks is awesome, but a cover-up nonetheless), but also because she's still getting her way, and that's what matters.

ugh there was other stuff i was going to talk about but i forgot and i need to go eat something and be naked at you now :)

SO YOUR QUESTION: Just how obsessed with Terezi is Dave, anyway?

PRETTY DARN OBSESSED LET ME TELL YA

Okay so the first glimpse we see of Dave and Terezi (from Dave's perspective) is when she gives him inspiration to create SbaHJ comics, thanks to her effortlessly shitty drawings. I mean gog, he has to exert EFFORT to be that horrible and she just makes it all look so easy. He even remembered her name. She made an impression, that's for sure.

When Dave came into camp, he was taken from a time when that impression was still mostly positive. He had yet to come across Bro and Davesprites dead bodies, and Terezi hadn't created a doomed Dave yet. This made for quite a lot of time where he could just hang with Terezi and get to know her and realize she was a pretty damn cool kid herself, was fun to hang around with and etc- basically, the troll disease called friendship struck him with full force.

Then things started going wrong.

Three events in camp have really shaken Dave so far- hearing from Karkat of all people that his slime-dad is dead, hearing that Terezi manipulated him and biggest of all- becoming a troll himself. The first is something that made him seriously antagonistic towards Karkat, but also more open to Terezi because... well, she actually stood by him, and it was nice to have her there. She saw a pretty miserable side of him, and didn't give him crap for it. Yes, Dave considers her awkward support as comfort. He hasn't had a lot of it in his days. Terezis manipulation on the other hand really hurt, and though he did forgive her reasoning that Terezi probably just didn't think he would actually mind, it did teach him that while Terezi's smart, she's not perfect either. She thinks she's smarter than most other people, and is often but not always right.

It may not have endeared her to him, but it did teach him a thing or two about her.

Finally, becoming a troll. This was actually a REAL eye-opener to Dave because suddenly your weird concepts and romances suddenly make sense to him. Dave-troll was honestly never much interested in a romantic relationships with any of his fellow trolls because as all of them were mutants in troll society. The thought of furthering the bloodline wasn't ever on his mind. Dave-troll thought he would never be filling buckets with anybody, and as such thought troll romance was meaningless and ignored any and all urges to pursue them. Then he met human Terezi whom reproduction was a moot issue with anyways, and whom it wouldn't feel weird to suddenly broach, however jokingly, the subject of black and red-rom. When he got turned back into a human, he pretty much realized that holy shit, human-him was probably in love with Troll-Terezi too. Denial may be a strong suit of him, but he always knows what it is he's denying.

But the most important matter that he learned from all this, was honestly sympathy and human, HUMAN mind you, pity for Karkat. Dave totally gets why Karkat would go gray after his own experiences, and as he said himself compared to Dave-troll Karkat aspiring to be a leader and help his team to victory was hella more noble than anything Dave did for his team. And all that aside, while troll-Dave never reached God Tier he still did his job as a Knight of Time, with all the sacrifice that entailed.

And thus, we are brought to the bad decision dinosaur attack, where Dave agreed to letting Terezi have them both. Throughout his stay in camp Dave has felt more and more isolated and alone. He doesn't have that many friends in camp, Jade is gone, John is mostly absent and Rose have her own relationships to worry about. Dave has been told repeatedly by Aradia that as the player of time he must be prepared to make sacrifices, so when the moment of truth arrived Dave was fully prepared to sacrifice his fledgling relationship with Terezi, because why not? He's losing things left and right, so why shouldn't he lose this as well? He came in after Karkat who deserves Terezi more than him. He's the odd man out who doesn't fit into the puzzle, so there's no reason for him to hope she would seriously pick him.

Except Terezi doesn't do that. Terezi doesn't want to lose him, and that really means a TON to Dave. In one part of his mind he knows that this affair wont work, maybe even that Terezi is wrong for not choosing and that it's not fair to expect this of Karkat (especially the latter). But again, Terezi WANTS him, Terezi doesn't want to sacrifice him and to a kid who's lost so much in such a short amount of time and who's doing his goddamn best to keep himself together that's like a life bouy to a drowning man. He is genuinely attracted to her because she's funny, she's cool, smart, can keep up with his banter and play along with his bullshit facade, her teeth tickles him in ways he's not quite mature enough to understand but most of all... she doesn't want to throw him away. She wants to keep him. And a very irrational, self-deprecating part of himself wonders if she's not the only one who does so.

TL;DR Dave has abandonment issues and thinks nobody wants him but Terezi, so if she wants to have both him and someone else he's fine with that because at least she still wants him too. Is it going to last? Doubtful, because if I ever canon-update Dave and he is the self-actualized, more assured hero we see in the updates where he's been going at it without Terezis help a few days he's probably going to realize just how messed up their relationship is. But as he is right now, Terezi wants him and that alone is doing wonders to help him stay afloat, so... yeah.

Why is this the first camp-romance I actually play out man what is wrong with me. ANY DAY NOW those people who chew homestuck-fans out for sexualizing thirteen year olds are gonna descend on me I just know it. ACTUALLY let us make that into the new question: are you ever scared of writing your thirteen year old as way too "grown-up" in thought, desires, behaviour etc? Because after playing mostly dead adult men this 'kid' business sure as hell is new and scary business to me.

Sometimes? But mostly I feel I can rationalize any moments where I'm worried.

I mean, for all that she's batshit crazy and plays with stuffed animals and plays dress up, Terezi's been on her own since day one, what with dragonmom not being hatched yet. So that coupled with how harsh Troll culture is, I think she's probably pretty grown up for a thirteen year old (in some aspects more than others, obviously). Add on top of that sgrub destroying everything she's ever known including her lusus, but with the exception of 11 other trolls that to be honest, most of which she doesn't even get along with all that well, even by troll standards.

And as far as sexualizing her goes... One: RAGING HORMONES. Two: The drones could come by AT ANY TIME with buckets! So I tend to think that trolls are a little less "oh you have to save sex for when you're more grown up" than humans. And three: As I said on the last virginity poll, I tend to interpret a conversation between Terezi and Karkat to mean that they've filled a pail! Also there's the fact that a huge part of the troll's storyline has been about relationships and how trolls reproduce. So I take away from that that trolls as a race aren't really very prudish (aside from buckets. Because really, you don't have to be a prude to not want to see people's sex aids out on display).

...There was something else I was going to say here but I forgot. Hmm. OH WELL.

YOUR QUESTION: If Dave woke up as TrollDave tomorrow, what would he have to say about the Bad Decision Dinosaur?

He would most likely be pretty damn pissed at his human counterpart for being so wishy-washy, and call everything off as soon as possible in a big display of hurt pride. Granted, this is mostly due to my own headcanon of how a troll in this situation would act, but even if TrollDave... kind of saw it as a point of pride to refuse to partake in the whole bucket-hysteria, if he actually did find someone he wanted as a matesprit and that person consented to being his, he would fight tooth and nail for that person because god dammit they are HIS. He fought (probably) to get them and they should just be with him.

I imagine that TrollDave is a LOT more prideful and disdainful than Dave, simply because he figures he's got more to be proud of than human-Dave. Hence, he would not approve of any of this, no sirree no he wouldn't.

RETURN QUESTION: are there any sites on the human internet that Terezi has bookmarked and follow religiously?

Also bonus question no seriously what is wrong with me why are dysfunctional thirteen year olds the first romance I play after more than three years in camp.

She spends a lot of time on Youtube and occasionally Wikipedia if Jaime links her to something instead of actually explaining things to her. But she doesn't really spend that much time on the internet, aside from trolling people.

lmao is the what's wrong the fact that you're playing dysfunctional 13 year old drama, or that you haven't played hilaribad decision relationships until now |D

QUESTION FOR YOU: MASSIVE BODYSWAP happens amongst your lineup for three days. Who winds up in who's body, and what happens?

I think it can be both actually. Like I said, more or less a history of stable or incredibly emotionally constipated adults and this is the first hilaribad relationship ever. IT'S A WHOLE NEW WORLD hang on a sec while I alchemize a rocketboard carpet and get you a turban. I can so rock a princess Jasmine outfit amirite?

OOKAY- As I currently have five peeps in my body, I imagine that it would go a little something like this. Faust into Brook, Brook into Dave, Dave into Mickey, Mickey into Vincent, Vincent into Faust. Faust is the only one tall enough to really comprehend Brooks weird ass body and who doesn't immediately freak the hell out when he suddenly turns into a skeleton. Brook enjoys not only having a young and exuberant body, but one that is also as quick and lithe as his previous body and quite the handsome young lad as well, perfect for adding that extra layer of charm to conversations with young ladies~.

Dave spends a minute just freaking out over how he is now supershort, then realizes that he is in MICKEY GOSHDARN MOUSES body, and then milks it for all it is worth. He immediately dons a pair of shades and starts a photoblog with himself in Mickey's body making gang signs and being basically ultra pimp (also digging the whole magic powers and ultra-speed thing), Mickey is a badass bamf who takes charge and manages to be extra handsome in Vincent's body because instead of being a moody dork he's a take-charge real HERO, and Vincent spends most of his time trying to figure out how the FUCK Faust works and be jelly of Mickey doing the hero thing so much better than him.

Also Mickey is probably the only one with the mental strength to keep his inner monsters at bay, so there is also that. Massively amusing shenanigans are had- Brook-in-Dave have tea-parties with Rose and probably tries to flirt with her. Dresses like a superelegant fop and takes pictures.
