I reread Ohitika Woman yesterday- I am still searching for the part about them clawing the lodge down during the sweat, but that may have been in Lakota Woman and missed it> i think i like ohitika woman better than lakota woman because she seems more humaan- she talks about being an alcoholic, why she left leonard crow dog(she said being the wife of a medicine man was just too stressful. Plus, she doesn't come right out and say it but she mentions that her second husband treats her better and she writes ALOT about Native men beating their women so I wonder if he raised a hand to her.) she also mentions that for all his greatness, Leonard is illiterate and this is problematic-especially when she was taking college courses in Phoenix. He wanted her to quit and didn't understand why she was so upset. And being illiterate, he had no concept of money. He would get money for being a medicine man and give it all away and then his family wouldn't have anything. She mentions that it just wore her down. I really wish she would do a 3rd book but Erdoes died in 2008.
