i've been royally fucked by the germantown friends school english department.
i went to my first period english class this morning to find no one there (for out-of-towners, my school lets upperclassmen pick their fourth-quarter english class from a huge list of mini-classes, a system known as 'essentially english'). i went back to the front hall to check the room number, and realized it said "anne gerbner's 'the art of persuasion', sections 2 & 4". so i talked to karen barbarese (school secretary) and found out i'd been placed in an english class that overlapped with my muslim civilizations class. then i got shuffled to anne to pick a different class, and i asked for peter reinke's russian literature class since it was my first choice. turns out every class (including peter's) is so full that my only options were "making a case: writing a lively essay" and the film class. since i have written so many fucking essays, i picked film.
i am so very pissed about this. i'm a very good english student, so it makes me really mad that they fucked up my schedule and then refused to give me any leeway in it. i pleaded with anne to let me take a reading course, but she said no. i'm stuck in the slacker senior film course....
