that life is good,
measure to measure,
in this flawlessly haunting symphony
of human throng
constantly devastating the ears
of anyone who listens hard enough,
i have no doubt.
but it is necessary as in any music
to pause between notes
and put your instrument down -

so today i took off my hood
and resubmitted my application to society
with higher hopes and more tenacity
than ever before.
the music isn't so loud anymore
and i can stand to turn the volume down
myself, just a little bit -
for the waiting period, i'll turn
the station to static and
imagine that it's light applause,
from an audience who quietly observed my efforts,
my part in the orchestra,
and allow a little congratulations
to fill the opera house of my head.

i think that's necessary,
from time to time -
