History / Biography: As a child he was curious about everything around him. Why mommy's fingers tasted better than her hair, why did the childhood learning mascots talk when clearly no giant animal could, why did people say that things happened for a reason? There was nothing too small for him, no question that could not be asked; his mind thrived for so many things wanting to be fed all the knowledge humanly possible starting from a very young age.
The man of the house, his father, did nothing to stop this curious nature, nurturing it instead, wanting his son to take a hold of the gift he was granted with and explore everything. He was a detective in the Narcotics Squad, always telling his eldest boy about tales of drug busts and bad guys that were put away. Every time he was told a new exciting tale, it thrilled Itachi even more about the wonders of the world, becoming three year old that had a fascination for taking out bags of flour out of the cupboard 'dusting' the room for fingerprints. Already at such a young age, he knew that he wanted to be just like his father and catch the bad guys with him.
However, his playing cop slowly turned into being less of a game and more of a reality. His father had received a promotion that put more responsibility on him, the stories started to fade away until there was nothing left to say about them and the late nights coming home became more regular. There was no chance that his inquisitiveness could be kept at bay after witnesses him sneaking in one night, hiding behind a wall just outside of his office listening to a conversation with an unknown. It did not sound like the typical Police business that he used to talk about, even his young mind knew the difference between the right side of the law and the wrong side. His father sounded like he had turned his back on the people he used to fight to protect to help the ones he used to lock away. He continued to monitor his movements as somewhat of a hobby, listening in to his private conversations, completely disregarding his privacy but something just did not sit well with the young Uchiha.
His suspicions were absolutely correct. That’s how it lead to that night. In the short, a group of men showed up at their house a little after ten, Itachi could not sleep so he ventured downstairs hearing the escalating voices. He hid behind the living room wall peeking past to see what was going on, some of the names said during the conversation reminiscent of the ones that he had heard his father speak over time. These were meant to be friends of his; he talked to them all the time. Only they weren't. Sounds of his mother screaming forever caught in his mind, hearing the fretful cries before being shot at point blank range leaving a splatter pattern across the wall he had been hiding behind as well as the droplets of her blood over his terrified face. His father tried to fight back against him, pulling his gun out to shoot clearly outnumbered. Itachi was frozen but all he could think about what his mother laying on the ground, where was his brother hiding. He couldn't move to find that out, watching them disarm him forcing him to kneel down on the ground executing him via multiple gunshots. He could see them pass straight through his father's body after he fell on top of his mothers, the bullets so high caliber that they hit her as they continued to fire.
The only thought that hit him after they both expired was that he had to get Sasuke and get out, foolishly running to get to him but drew their attention over to him. Most of what happened next moved so fast that he could not tell, grabbed from behind kicking wildly to get out, lastly calling out his younger brother's name before the darkness came unable to even shed a tear for the family he had lost. When he awoke again, he was alone, some cuts and bruises over him, a large gash across the back of his head that had been stitched up and treated but that was less painful than what he had discovered. His entire family had been murdered by them.
Who they were, he cared not to ask them, not even too sure really but they took him into their home and continued to raise him after much protest and fighting back. It didn't take him long to realize that opposing them were useless so instead he kept quiet, extremely quiet, growing up under their care. The older he got he started back to his old ways around, snooping around gathering information to pinpoint the exact origins of his 'adopted' family, turning over a few stones but nothing concrete. Questions to why they had kept him alive after all of these years came to mind on more than one occasion, trying to come to those answers while he continued on, finishing up high school and continuing on through to college.
When it came to picking a major he had to go with his instinct, following the steps of his father to appease the young child that wanted to flour everything inside of him. After years of being under their care, he had learnt how to keep things a secret from them, his choice in degrees was proof of that for if they found out that he was entering into a path headed for criminal forensics then he would have been either utilized for their purposes or punished for his defiance. With a little changing and manipulating, they were convinced that he was doing a degree in Linguistics, minoring in multiple languages that really pleased them. What better than to have someone close to you who could detect speech patterns and analyze them to find out if they were lying or not.
His degree was finished before the specified time that left the possibilities open for further studies. One of the top schools in Forensic Science was not in the area so this was the chance he was looking for to break away from them. After much lying on Itachi's part, the consideration was accepted and he was granted to leave to study away from their college allowing him to move on but of course there would be people watching. Just to make sure that there was going to be no mistake of who he belonged to, he was branded with a tattoo on his forearm before leaving not at all familiar to him but they would know the true meaning of it which meant he could not let his guard down yet.
Itachi was finally sent off on his own finally hopefully to finish his schooling and to get himself into the Law Enforcement field before they had a chance to retaliate. He was going to see this through no matter what. There was no desire to avenge his family for their demise but he was going to make sure that it could not happen again to anyone else's.
