Nearly a year after the eggs had hatched they had managed to find a home. Four bedrooms and enough space, or at least Fai hoped, for their large family. It had been a big transition and even with the help of their family and friends it had taken some getting used to. Fai had had to stop working at the office more or less only going in when necessary and worked from a small office they had set up in an extra room they had. it was a little cramped and the kids were twice their size two years later, but they had also started using their human forms, which made things easier and harder at the same time.
"Alright." Fai reached over the coffee table making sure everyone had a straw in their juice box or that tiny hands were cleaned. No one really paid him any attention, used to it. Since they were still too young for school Fai and sometimes Tsumebe or Yuui helped watch them during the day.
Nokoru sat beside his father polite as always and helpful with his sisters Nagisa and Kohaku, the two youngest girls. Fai suspected it had to do with all the time he spent with his grandmother, but he was becoming quit the gentleman. On his other side Koryu tried tug at their youngest, Chikahito, hair, Fai quickly turned him back towards his plate. Sayaka, their eldest sat opposite him and smiling bright as she ate.
They were each at different levels, but were a little further along than most human children where, able to talk somewhat and walk well on their own. They still didn't know how to fly yet despite Kurogane trying. Their wings just weren't strong enough yet.
Fai sighed as he ate, glad for the short break as his children ate. It quickly dissolved into playing once they were full and they had stacked their plates together. Fai grabbed the rest taking it off the table to clean up. "Koryu, don't be too rough."
His son pouted at being caught before he could jump on Kohaku. Sayaka went with Fai carrying plates. Chikahito played with the others, already changed into their other forms and rolling around the floor. "Thank you sweetie." Fai grinned as he took the paper plates and dumped the scrapes in the garbage, "You can go play with the others."
Glancing up at the clock he noted Kurogane should be home soon and as the noise rose, with squeaks and yelling Fai was glad for it. When he had finished cleaning Fai moved to the couch making sure no one was getting too rough. Kurogane assured him they were tougher than they looked, but that didn't mean Fai was going to let them knock each other around. Koryu was always rough and always liked picking on his youngest sister, but she was beginning to learn to fight back so Fai didn't worry too much about it.
It was a quarter till five when everyone had settled down and were either curled up with him or strewn about the floor watching TV or playing with toys. He petted Nagisa's hair as she laid on his chest with Chikahito, whose tail curled around his wrist. When the door opened however several heads went up and when Kurogane came into view everyone scrambled to greet him first.
Fai laughed as Kurogane didn't know which one to answer first so instead he tried gathering them all up in his arms. Walking over they shared a kiss. "Welcome back Kuro-daddy. Need help?" He had two hanging off his shoulders while the others were crammed together.
"Nah, I got it." He managed to make it to the couch before dropping everyone and Fai had to laugh as their children crawled over him trying to find a place to sit. Kurogane tried to act tough with them, but really they had him trained to spoil them. Granted the only one that ever really took advantage was Koryu and Nokoru.
"Once Kuro-daddy rests, everyone's taking a bath." Fai chimed in earning him a series of groans and protests and questions. Sitting at the end of the couch Fai watched as Kurogane tried to listen to each child as they told him about their day.
It was cute to watch and eventually when everyone had settled down they gathered them up again and bathed them. It was a mess, water everywhere and Fai had to try and stop Koryu from spitting water on his brothers, Nokoru puffed smoke and Kurogane was too proud to scold him for it. The girls were much easier to bathe and when they were towel each were wrapped in large towels as Kurogane and Fai got them dry and dressed for bed. Luckily a bath usually got most of them too tired to protest going to bed and they both made rounds to each room tucking the toddlers in and reading them a story.
Fai collapsed on his own bed tired. Yuui and Syaoron were babysitting tomorrow so he could have a break and rest. Kurogane followed after climbing into the sheets and curled an arm around the blonde. "You look tired."
"I feel tired." He leg, even after years, still ached when he walked too much and he still had a slight limp.
"We'll go out tomorrow after we drop the kids off." Fai nodded curling in against the other man and smiled.
"Asking me out on a date?"
"N-no." He stuttered blushing and tightened his hold on the blonde. It wasn't the life he had picked out for himself, but Fai was content and happy. He loved Kurogane and their children. They had friends and family and he couldn't ask for more.
